I have heard that many of the naptha/petroleum distillate packages will cause an increase in metals showing up in a UOA (used oil analysis), notably copper... related to decreasing the lubricity of the fuel to an extent... posters have communicated the direct correlation to their use of "unnameable fuel additive" in that case anyway...

The Diesel Garage, Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forum, diesel Place are all good sites to read up on the new ULSD, 2 stroke oil, Power Service, Stanadyne, Lucas, etc...

You ever run redline and view UOA's? You would see high copper first time around. That does not mean is it bad either. I have also run Amsoil PI and wears went through the roof! Also get the samething with Powerservice, that is why I do not use these two products anymore. I only use Fuel Power.

I take forum data like salesmen...with a brick of salt.

Ive read where people have posted..in various bulletin boards that diesel fuel IS a solvent and that is ISNT a solvent.
quote]

Just about anything can be a solvent per this definition:

a substance that dissolves another to form a solution: Water is a solvent for sugar.

I'm sure diesel will dissolve something out there, thus it is likely a solvent.

yep, The Diesel Garage is a great place to pick up information.

I also would suggest "Howes" additives. I constantly see their products being sold & bought in big truck, tractor & equipment parts departments.

I'm curious about the engine damage.
Did the piston seize in the cylinder and snap the rod?
Is there any sign ofo scoring or excessive wear in the other clylinders?
If so where is it? High?, low? Any gouges, like from broken ring.
How was the crank bearing.

Could also be the service tech was told by the service manager to suggest too much additive was used to place the blame on the owner/operator so they could fend-off any warranty claims.

Here is the tale of woe.
32 HP 25 year old Kubota, in middle winter pasture cleanup, CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-you get it!

Local tractor mechanic opens it up and sees broken rod and piston.

He also says that the diesel is "smelling strong." He asks if I have been using lots of power service. I proudly say "YES", I got a great deal locally when a farm store sold out. He said that he sees engine damage when too much PS is used.

Anyone else know about this?

Don't believe this local tractor mechanic.......

 Why would there be a warranty on a 25year old tractor??
