It's okay, you can fill in whatever word you want to use, argue, question, doubt, whatever. I expect nothing less from you.

You're right, I do tend to point out when people make silly statements.

I went and priced a Kubota of about 50 hp don't remember the specifics just a cab and blade and loader with the same options the LS had.
It was 17k more than the LS. **** I could buy the wife a new car with the difference and we'd both be happy.

That's pretty much what I found when I bought my LS (since sold for something much bigger), but it was more like $10-12K depending on which model (all open station). Kubota will have a higher resale value, but if you're planning to hold on to it indefinitely, that becomes less of a concern.

When I started looking for something bigger, with a cab, there was no way I was going to pay that much extra for Kubota...it pushed me to just buy a backhoe since it was the same amount of money (keeping the Massey for PTO implement duty).

Just a guess, but in context it seems to mean "cost a lot". Like, "John Deere makes a nice tractor, but it's gonna run you 60 grand to own one".

Exactly what I meant, and I know you were throwing them up there for comparison, but only in HP, I think there's about a 20K spread price wise there.

And I expected that. :p

Since you can predict what will bring other people the most personal satisfaction, I guess this shouldn't come as any surprise :salute:

I know no more about the OP than you. So aren't my comments about what might work for him just as valuable as yours?? In your eyes obviously not. So be it Bart.

My take on this is that he's about to take on a huge debt load and tremendous personal responsibility in regards to developing his new home and acreage. Not going to get it all done the first year. Last thing needed would be a large payment on a single piece of equipment that simply speeds up the process. Money might be better spent, and thus less stressful, to buy in as cheap as possible to get the basic needs fulfilled. Then as stability sets in growth can take place.

Ah, there's the distinction. You didn't say it might give him more personal satisfaction, you just declared that, in your opinion, it would give him more personal satisfaction....something you can't know.

Again, your making assumptions about a topic never discussed. Where did he say it would cause him to take on debt, or have a payment? All he said was that Kubota charges a lot more for similar tractors that he compared, and he'd use the difference for something else.

I bow to your unwaivering and obvious superior intelligence Bart. :p

I really wish I would stop clicking on this thread to see if it'd gotten back on topic.

Good luck, seems like an attempt will be met with a challenge over semantics.
