( Speaking of pellet stoves, the price of pellets hasn't gone up in 6 years. Compared to fuel oil, propane, natural gas or electricity, pellet fueled stoves have become an extreme bargain. )

Last year, I paid $185 a ton..... this year, I was quoted $215 per ton, paid in advance. Going to $225 per ton October 1st. The interesting thing is that they don't even have a ton in inventory yet! I am not certain who is gouging, the dealer or the distributor/manufacturer. This is for New England Pellets made in Jaffery NH.

I really like TSC. The one nearest me has a gal managing it who grew up on a farm and her Dad still farms it. They also have a retired welder there and some other good and knowledgeable people in different areas. As I recall, there is a TSC policy that each store have someone with backgrounds in farming, welding, and a couple other trades on staff at all times.

I remember something the current CEO said that I think perfectly describes TSC; "You can find everything we sell somewhere else but nowhere else has everything we carry." I don't buy everything there but I gladly pay a buck more for something there because of the convenience and hospitality.

I like going somewhere and being greeted by someone I know doesn't have that as their job. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I walk in there and they not only know my name but are also likely to ask me how something I bought there a while ago is working out for me.

Gary, my experiences with TSC is exactly the same. I know the manager of our closest store, and she knows what I buy and what I need. She often asks me how merchandice I bought worked out. Most of the staff in the store are very knowledgable and helpful, and I don't know any other store in my area that has the selection of farm supplies that they do.

TSC can be hit and miss store depending on where its located. There are 5 TSC near me (50 mile range) and everyone is differant in selection and qty on hand. The one near town is more of garden and supply place. The one in the "ritzy" area mainly has overpriced equire products, big mowers and almost no 3pt gear. Get out of town and they become more "farm" based. The quality of the manager greatly affects the quality of the store also.

More or less the same is said by Agri-Supply too and to my knowledge, Agri-Supply supply the goods for lower prices than TSC.

You are getting hosed, BIG TIME. I mean BBBIIIGGG TTTIIIMMMEEE.

TSC's regular store price, by the ton is $3.58 per 40 pound bag of Lignetics. That works out to $179.00 PER TON. That is good at any TSC, anywhere.

We got a farm promotional reduction from TSC for volume buying a few days before I ordered the pellets and it took us down to $2.79 per bag which is $139.50 PER TON.

I'd call up your supplier and tell him or her to stick it where the sun don't shine.....and leave it there.

Any chance you want to buy a $100.00 raffle ticket for a chance on a round trip ticket on the Hindenburg??

I'll be a really nice guy and order you a few tons on the TSC website and you can give me the difference for my trouble. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The minimum order quantity is 1 ton. I always order at least 5 tons and the price hasn't gone up in a long time. Actually, this year, it went DOWN.

I'll let that comment slide for now. I think for retribution, just send me your Japanese computer and monitor you are reading this forum on as well as your digital camera.......for starters. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I have a Japenese camera with a German Zeiss lens. Everything you buy from clothing to steel has a blend of a few countries in it. As long as we export as much as we import the competition works wonders for the prices. The only problem is the imports are outweighing the exports and costing jobs............I still buy the product that works and is in the cheaper range. I'd like a Ferrari but I drive a Jeep.

Are you sure it's good at ALL TSC stores?
I don't know about pellet prices, but I know there is so much variation in their prices from one area to another. I know of certain TSC stores where there is a five to ten percent difference in price in their 3 point implements.

There is a little sweetheart in the TSC near me, she can bag my hardware and anything else any time she wants. I love going there.

Seriously, I have been in 2 TSC stores around me, never been disappointed, and always come out with less money than I went in with.

Ah yes, a Jeep. Lets see, if it a YJ or a Liberty it's made in Toledo, if it's a Grand Cherokee, it's made in Detroit. Of course, the Germans own Chrysler now......Lets see, GM owns a big chunk of Suzuki, Chrysler owns a part of Mitsubishi which, by the way is about to go **** up, Ford owns a share or most of Jaguar. The list goes on. It's all about the prostituting of the American economy.

I have a Kubota. yes it's Japanese but so is every CUT made. Maybe I should say Japanese, Chinese or Korean. The big tractors aren't American either. The NH mid size units are English and Italian as is case. JD is Japanese and whatever. My boss adamantly refrains from buying foreign and he got a TC30D. He said to me, "It's a New Holland, made in the good old USA". I opened the hood and pointed out the Japanese writing on the engine. He shut the hood and shut his cake hole.

Good old Harley Davidson, "Made in the USA" on the tank. Should say "Assembled in America from a conglomeration of foreign parts".

By the way, there are a few things still made in America. Of course American made items are more expensive. Take machine tools for instance. A real honest to goodness Bridgeport vertical mill is about 1 and 1/2 times as much as the third world counterpart. I buy as much American made as possible, especially for the machine shop, however, sometimes the American hard goods are priced out of my reach.

I could go on, but why beat a dead horse. Just send me your computer and monitor along with your camera with the whatchamacallit lens as payment for your newbie attitude on this forum. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Isn't that Carl Ziess guy a punk rocker??

Understood, and nothing meant by the comment other than they have some really sweet country gals working there. My wife attends TSC with me most all the time, and I would behave even if she did not.

I was working this week at an office that this one very attractive (to me) little redhead gal worked at. If my wife had seen her she would have told me "bet you dont mind working there", and laughed about it. She would also be correct. The whole office is super, but this one young lady just kind of stood out.

The wifey and I have a great life with each other, but we are not dead, just married! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Sorry if I offended or got out of line, did not mean too

Their flyers from the newspapers are regional. The one that comes in our local paper and the one that appears in the newspapers in west central PA are totally different. Some prices are higher, some are lower. Go to TSC's website and put in a different zip code on the other side of the country and click on "view flyer" and see the differences. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

My last picture was Former Congressman Traficant.
476056-Traficant2.jpg

I say former, because he is now known at FCI Ray Brook as inmate number 31213-060.
He's the one who used to stand on the floor of the House and shout, "Beam me up Scotty, there's no intelligent life here!"

For more on my former representative, go to http://www.traficant.com/

My new picture is the title character from a classic 1971 movie. Name the actor and the movie for 1000 bonus points. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

No offense taken, at all. I am not dead either. I just hibernate a little now and then.

My wife was a redhead, now she is a greyhead /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

......Glad she don't read my posts.
