Tractor Umbrella's

   / Tractor Umbrella's #11
Hello to all,

My Kubota M5400 has never had a canopy or any other device to protect me from the sun...My ROPS almost hits the top rafters in the shed I park in, so that's the main reason why. However, I have recently seen some pics of umbrella's that can fit below the ROPS. Most of the ones I have seen online have a max 3.5 star rating and state that the brackets holding umbrella are cheap and break at the welds.

Looking to buy one ASAP and would like your feedback on quality ones that wk, AND are simple to remove and reinstall. I shred under a lot of trees, so I'd remove then and reinstall for pasture and other...anything that is a permanent fixture or takes a lot of time to remove and reinstall will not wk.

Thank you very much inadvance for your suggestions and experience.

Best - tstex
I have a Tuff Top on my M9 open station and it folds down as well.

Umbrellas are old timey. I like the simple idea and I like the look on your tractor...
But for mine I went with a permeant solution. All metal. We have 300 sunny days a year.

Have it mainly because I'm hairless on top and I don't need a sunburned head. Tuff Top's are very sturdy and easily folded not that I ever fold mine because I don't. Other tractor has a cab and climate control.

Home Depot has some 5' golf umbrellas for $8.00. FIRM GRIP 5 ft. Golf Umbrella in All Black 38124 - The Home Depot. It's a pretty decent umbrella. $8 isn't a lot to risk to see how it actually works out for you.

Some here are putting golf cart canopies on their tractors with tubing that allows the canopy to be slid off. I don't know how much one of those canopies weighs or how much trouble it is to get the canopy on/off.
A bit of PVC pipe, elbows, PVC red-glue makes the frame. I've seen both the golf cart canopies and the dumpster lids.

The Golf Cart Canopies are just as pricey as the ones for compact tractors. $300 to $650.

The dumpster lids (new) are about $28 to $100.
And best of all, these have hinges built in. Add to ROPS and you can flip them back when needed or slide the pins off to remove. Fast and simple.

Example below is a 36x58 (3x5)
About $40 for this one.
36" x 58" 6 & 8-Yard Front Load Lid - JC Pacific Trading Co

Dumpster lids are engineered to take a beating. :)

and being black, they soak up the sun's heat like a dry sponge too.
