Aarrgh....I read the whole 5-page string, only to find out that it ends on a cliff-hanger! Stay tuned?
I was actually getting into it!

I had a girlfriend once that was kinda like that..... Oh, guess we shouldn't go there...

Hopefully the dealer will tell the OP what they found and he can relate it back to us...

I have 8 of the Battery Tenders - 1.25 AMP
6 of the Battery Tender Jr's - .75 AMP
4 Battery Minders - 1.5 AMP
All are excellent!
I will NEVER buy another Interstate battery!

I`m with ya... every interstate battery i ever bought was junk, some didnt even make it a week before shorting out internally.
The only batteries i buy today are made by DEKA in the USA. Even 2 of my harley batteries made by DEKA lasted 10yrs each...!

Guys can we keep the "Interstate Battery Love/Hate Debate" out of this thread please?

Take your personal vendettas elsewhere as they do nothing to help the OP with his fault-finding.

Regards,
:wrench:

The OP has sent his tractor to the dealer to be fixed. I dont think there is much more help that anyone can do at this point.
As for your love/hate comment, i look at it as "Truth/Lie". People need to be aware of "the quality" of a product.

As the OP was saying in post #44, he was looking to buy a interstate battery next time.
I`m just simply stating, there are better choices in batteries out there rather than buying interstate.

That's complete BS. Truth vs. lie! So I'm lying and you're telling us truth?! Don't suppose you ever owned and ran a foreign auto repair facility, and employed a bunch of people while doing it, AND was an Interstate dealer in a State like VT where some extreme weather and stress on batteries takes place, eh?
Your personal experience doesn't equate to truth vs. my every day working experience fixing cars and running a shop, now does it?!

Must have a bunch of crappy batteries to need all those tenders/minders etc. :confused2: I'll bite ~ why won't you buy another Interstate battery, and what are your 'gold standard' choice in batteries please enlighten us....:confused3:

Well..... here is the "enlightenment" requested.
Why would anyone assume a battery to be "crappy", just because it has a Battery Tender attached?
I have 16 batteries, and keep a Battery Tender/Minder attached to each, when that particular machine is stored, or not in use.
If all those batteries were "crappy", I too would need to be a battery dealer.
I once thought Interstate WAS the "gold standard"
I do NOT have a "gold standard" battery choice.

It is simple: Interstate stiffed me on the battery warranty for a vehicle I use in Canada.
Each of the three locally advertised Canada Interstate dealers I visited, told me they were dropping (one had already dropped) the Interstate line for warranty issues.
As I said above: It is simple! Screw me on the warranty = don't ever expect to see me again as a customer.
Adequate enlightenment?

I will update the thread when I hear something from the dealer.

As far as batteries... I just want something that will last longer than 2 years. I'd love to get 8+ years of use!

I didn't make any assumptions. I made a sarcastic comment about you having crappy batteries if you have to use that many tenders to keep things charged up. You're the one with 16 batteries attached to tenders, etc., not me. Most of my batteries get used fairly regularly, and a lot just sit waiting for my use, with the exception of my boat which is totally seasonal, and has its own specialized marine grade charger attached to the wall when not in use. I don't have but one original Battery Tender full size to occasionally bring a battery up to full charge. And I too have around 16, in my case, (Interstate batteries), in various vehicles, as I previously stated.

I can't help you with how Canada deals with Interstate warranty issues, that's a whole 'nother country, and how they do business is their thing. Doesn't reflect, from my POV, one way or the other on things here in the US.

I never said Interstate was the only game in town; but if the OP is replacing his battery every two years he needs to step up to a better brand. Interstate is one of probably a number of excellent brands that makes and sells batteries that can easily last more than two years, especially if one uses a tender to keep it topped off when not being used regularly.

You have a problem with your experience with one vehicle used in another country, and therefore won't buy any more Interstate batteries; your choice, (you say you were 'screwed' on warranty), but it has no relevance as to the quality of their product, nor does it have anything to do with my having been a dealer at a certain point in time. And I never said that Interstate was anyone's gold standard, even for me; I just have had good service from them since the 1980's.

If you have that many batteries maybe you should open a shop and become a dealer of some brand of battery. You still haven't said what brand you now swear by. I'm feeling so enlightened now...:confused3:

Mine in the Kioti is a 2010 , the Little B7500 I traded in for a Kubota L3400 had 8 years on its original battery and it was still starting fine. I dunno. is storing them inside and putting some kind of battery maintainer on them the answer? I don't know, but some people get 10 years out of them and some get 2. I have heard if you get 4 years out of a battery, consider yourself about average. The OEM battery in my Chevy truck was a 2010, and it failed last year so only 6 years out of it. It never had a maintainer on it, but it sat a lot. About 15000 miles on it when it failed. Battery science is kinda hard to understand why some last so long, and some last so little. The Kioti battery, judging from what i see on the voltmeter during startup does not have the capacity it had when it was new. Of course it starts fine. But how well it will start at -10 or worse is up for grabs.

Personal experience...???? lol... uhhhh no, no BS my friend.
Yeah, tell me about 40+years turning wrenchs for a living in dealerships AND (STILL) owning my own shop, yeah, plenty of experience.
And yes, i WAS, an interstate battery dealer, until i got tired of customers coming back with bad batteries, and interstate`s warranty sucked.
I wouldnt come in here to say interstate batteries were great if they wern`t...TRUTH. If your a fanboy of them, GREAT, some of us are not, for good reason.

And a MasterTech for each: GM - Dodge - Honda, is that enough experience...???

Dont mean to pull the thread off course, but i felt i needed to defend my statement when someone calls BS.
