Trailer for BX23

For all it matters, I have a B6100 hst with a 4' lucknow blower on the back, 2 full-sized tractor weights hanging off the front, and a mid plow mount, and haul it on a 11' trailer that used to be a travel trailer. Being so, it can easily take the weight, and it also has electric brakes. I didn't have a controller hooked up at first, so hauling it with my S10 needed extra caution. I figure trailer with load weighs about 2000lbs., or a bit more.
I have since hooked up the brakes, and I recommend brakes for anyone hauling their tractor. It doesn't matter much, UNTIL that panic-stop situation is happening to you, and you need to stop NOW, regardless of what you're driving/hauling. The brakes made quite a difference with my small truck. Most of you guys are hauling much more weight with bigger trucks. You still have to stop all that.

I don't have a trailer for my BX yet. But I have logged plenty of miles with both a 2500# trailer without brakes and a 3000# trailer with brakes. I will NEVER go back to hauling a trailer without brakes. All it takes to wake you up it to hit an expansion joint at a odd angle and the next thing you know the trailer is doing a big wiggle. You just reach over and touch the trailer brake controller, and everything is smooth again. Also the first time some dill weed is talking on their cell phone in front of you then has to jack up, you will LOVE trailer brakes.

No brakes, no tow!

I used a 16' flatbed once with my B8200 on it. Total weight of B8200 about 2250lbs. someone on the freeway cut me off, and it was hold on for the ride. Under hard braking it was pushing my 3/4 ton 4x4.

I have my own trailer now. It is a 16' two axle 7000lbs/gvwr. Much nicer all around with the brakes.

Get the brakes. If necessary upgrade your trailer. The local trailer place here has brakes for $100 per side. Add $100 for a controller. And, a Saturday afternoon.

Think about that 4-year old playing with the ball, chasing it in to the street. The kid flashes out past a parked car. Now try to stop, as the trailer pushes you, and your back brakes lock up, and the whole thing gets sideways...

Mandatory is based on State regs, and varies from state to state.

I didn't want the size of a tandem trailer. I was thinking 12 MAYBE 14 footer. I wont be towing it much but I had planned on electric brakes on mine regardless. I wont be towing with the hoe on it most of the time anyway.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but what's the difference in size between a 12' or 14' single axle trailer versus a 12' or 14' tandem axle trailer?

Oh, wait. I get it. It's one of those questions like, "What weighs more, a ton of feathers or a ton of bricks?"
