I've put my tractor on the trailer several times with it set-up with loader and rear blade. This week I need to put it on the trailer but will have a BH on the rear instead. Just seems that is a bunch more weight on the back. Concerned about the actual loading/unloading part. Seems like it might be easier to back on the trailer but afraid it will be too much weight on the hitch.

It would help me if I knew the weight and length of your backhoe package and details about your trailer.

This is an important safety issue to have the load properly balanced.

The first time I trailered my TLB I did it with the Bh at the rear. What I soon realized was that even with the pins in the boom to lock it place it still had a little left to right play. Which only served to increase the amount of fish tailing the trailer did. Scared the &^$% outta me. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Now I back it on and park it a little more towards the rear of the trailer (18 ft trailer).

I have a pretty heavy tractor and hoe set up. First time I placed it, I fishtailed some. I simply stopped, mooved tractor about another 8 inches, and no problems. I have to raise my bucket now, and partially go over onto the tongue rails. Still, not a problem at all.. It just takes a few minutes time, getting the perfect balance where you feel comfortable.

Once I found the right spot for my TLB tractor position on my trailer that would not cause fish tailing or too much tongue weight . I painted a set of stripes on the deck . My tires go between them . This way I can place the tractor in the same spot every time depending on what attachment I have on .

Drop that backhow bucket to the deck and the side play will stop. Like stated above, find that sweet spot on you trailer and mark it.

I once loaded my boat onto the trailer and didn't notice that it was not tight to the front bumper/roller. Since its a bunk-style trailer, there was no way to move it once it was out of the water. The ramp was too busy to wait in line to back in again and float it, so I decided to drive with it like that.

The boat was only 6 inches back from the "optimum" position, but that was enough to make it kind of light in the front and I had to stay under about 45 MPH to avoid fishtailing.

One thing that you may find is if you load the BH to the rear, you will be lifting weight at the tongue. My brother and I always make sure we have the extra implements loaded into the truck bed to put some weight on the rear springs. No problem. And also, make sure you properly chain front and back.
