trailer rear support

Hi folks..gravelman here in NH I have a Pequea deckover trailer...17 feet flat, 3 feet beavertail I need to know if anyone has made a support beam for the rear width of the trailer to support something 20 feet or a bit longer. It is 96" wide. Im just trying to figure out a way to fabricate something that will run the width of the very rear of the trailer for supporting long loads level. thanks much for any advice

I bungee strap a 2by6 to my ramps . I use 2 when hauling hay to span the gap between them

ok, my ramps are slid in underneath so that is not going to work for me...besides i do some long distance hauling on interstates so it has to be solid and foolproof...

weld a receiver hitch Upright to the bumper and make a T out of 2" sq tube

I like the hitch-hauler idea. Make sure load remains' heavy on front side of axles or you may get tail wag.

If you have stake pockets at the back of the trailer you can insert channel iron in the pockets and weld a cross piece, heavy enough to handle your load, to the tops of the channel. That way you can completely remove it when you don't need it.
