I dunno.. think about all you have learned in JUST THIS THREAD!.

Yes this is an highly educational forum, after reading some of these threads and posting some very informative info, I think I'm now ready to take a written exam, so I can get my BS degree.

Two months ago two antennas sounded doable and or easy-ish, no more spinning the antenna to watch a couple shows. The only obstacle that I saw was getting up on my garage 25ft metal roof, not to mention the incoming power cable.

On my house a Winegard HD7084p, shooting to Bangor, point it towards Portland I get 23-8. Bought the smaller AntennaCraft HBU55, set to Portland with new rotor(just in case) got in 8. Thought I'll get the bigger that I was thinking of getting first, Winegard HD8200U, handful. Set it up, got nothing, no where anywhere, call call call... Winegard, no reply, sent email, they sent something about a compass.....Now upset, took it back down, boxed it, brought it back to Homedepot. I thought well might be such a thing as bad antenna.

So try one more time to the Summit Source where I bought HBU55, the last seller of Radio Shack antennas. Ordered the super big Antenna Craft HD1850, that was two handfuls, got it all hooked up and again nothing nowhere, so took that back down, now I'm really upset and it cant be returned, so put the HBU55 back up, again, but this time I noticed 2 small flat loops that wasn't folded out like I did on that bigger one, folded them out, now I get 8 and 23 hum.

Now I'm finishing painting the front of the garage and the staging is on it's way down, I've had it with antennas. I just dont understand why those two bigger antennas didn't work, how can an antenna not work, to me it's like throwing a rock up in the air and it stays there. I guess it's above my pay grade.

I would love to look at your photo's if you would post them to the forum... I am not going to start a flicker account to just look at them.

Transmission line (coax) good? Are there 4 to 1 baluns involved on the antenna end? Are they good, Are the antennas pointed in the correct direction. Were all instructions followed carefully in the construction and deployment of the antenna's and baluns.? I likely cannot help you very much from 1500 miles away... but..

Can't see your flikr pictures and don't want a flickr account, sooo, it would be better if you posted the pics to TBN directly for more folks to see what you have.

Do you have any amplifiers on the antenna?

Notice that the antenna that works is for channels 7 and above and all the failure antennas are designed for channels 2 and up ? A FM radio transmitter(s) is being picked up through those big long channel 2-6 elements and is overloading the tuner with noise.
Obtain a deep fringe channel 7-51 antenna WITH an amp mounted on the antenna WITH a FM trap. Low loss RGU-6 cable and a rotor will fill the channel selection up like a satellite dish for selection.
