Wow! Thanks.

That HDhomerun tuner is something worth paying $85 for. More than just a one-time-use signal strength meter, it receives tv from your antenna and broadcasts it through your home router to watch on a pc, tablet, etc. Additionally, if I understand it, the technical info you need to aim the antenna appears in an app on your phone. While you're on the roof.

Again, thanks!

("Also are we sure your splitter/combiner is passing signals? have you tried hooking your tv up to just the antenna that does not work and pointing it around to determing how things are working.?")

(75' FT Quad RG6 Coaxial Cable Black with Gold F-Connectors)<<<This is what's on my garage antenna, then theres 40' of the same thing on my house antenna, both go through this>>>>>(2512 Channel Plus 2-Way Splitter / Combiner DC and IR Passing)<< both antennas are working. BUT BUT BUT the bigger antennas did not work on my garage, I tried by-passing the combiner but still didn't work.

Since your only 1500 mi. away the best thing for you to do is while your visiting Bah Habar state park stop in with your $300.00 meter reader and condo lift, hook up my big antenna so it works and I'll give you an IOU.........

("I'm stuck with college-campus PBS")<<<<<I feel your pain, I only watch that when Daniel O Donnell is on, but I use to watch that channel a lot when Red Green was on.

If you were withing a reasonable driving distance I would stop by. I don't have the Antenna signal strength meter any more. That was long ago an it wasn't mine to begin with, it belonged to the appliance store I worked at. It was an analog meter set up to receive analog TV signals and decode their audio. It worked very well though. It think it was $300 maybe $400 bucks back then over 40 years ago and that was a lot of money then.

IF you can find a local Amateur radio club you go ask for some assistance. There are old geezers like me in Maine I am sure that could help you. It is just a matter of finding one. I will see what I can find.

Here look at this page and see if it can help you.

Here's the 411, I bought this antenna last week, hooked up today and it didn't work, barely make out one channel, the other channel I didn't even begin to bring it in, total waste of money, well cant really say that fortunately I bought it off Walmart web site, contacted them and they gave me a full refund plus $25.00 gift card for the aggravation and boy was I aggravated, also they said to dispose of it, I'm thinking 20g buckshot.

So I hooked back up my old antenna and got my channels back in, while in the process I decided to try an RCA pre-amp, that did bring in one channel. After 4 hours of antenna make over I went back and hooked the Channel Master cm-7777 backup, now the channel are back in, for now.

Now the reason WHY. Every year when it gets cold, 20* and lower I loose all channels and dont why, I'm thinking it's the $70.00 pre-amp but not sure.

The morale of the story is if you want to try one these 150 mi antennas that's probably only good for 25, buy it at Walmart they'l stand behind you, I
give this thing one star.

With service going out at 20*, I'd say you have water in something that's freezing and expanding, causing either a short or open circuit.

Most likely in the coax cable.

I've given up on the deep fringe Channel Master 4228HD Antenna I mentioned above in post #78 and 84. After a couple of years playing around with I still haven't seen any of the stations 60 miles away in SF or over in the Central Valley that I had before the digital conversion. It seems the digital frequencies simply don't reflect off the atmosphere to 'see' over the horizon. I've never seen even a flicker from a single one of the stations I used to receive. Bah.

Anybody want to buy it? As-new in original box, it never spent a night outdoors. Local sale only. (Santa Rosa/US 101/Novato/Vallejo/I-80E).

I had it on a photo tripod on a second floor balcony with an amplifier close by. Later I bought an amplified conventional 'long range' cheap antenna that had good Amazon reviews - it couldn't see anything from my place either. I'm simply too far below the nearby hilltops to get reception after the digital conversion. I'm stuck with State-College PBS, rebroadcast old-time religion, Univision. Bah.

Weather and terrain has a lot to do with it. I知 running dual 4228 antennas stacked on a 50foot tower and pull 80 miles regularly but you need to consider your antenna height and elevation , the desired transmitter elevation and power, and obstacles in between. On good days I can pull stations 120 miles away. After the digital conversion some transmitters went to directional antennas that are now pointing the wrong way for me to get reliably.

If you keep your runs short and set it up right ganging antennas makes a huge improvement on signal strength.
