Back when cable came to my parents neighborhood the sales guys were going door to door signing everyone up and waiving basin install... the cost was $7.95 per month and my Dad told the sales guy he was not about to blow a $100 a year so the kids could spend more time in front of the idiot box... and that set the tone.
Mind you, the $7.95 was for basic... some added packages and were up over $20.
I can't rent a home or apartment that is not cable ready... even in Washington it was a constant source of turnover...
When tenants have a complaint about service they are stunned when I say I really can't comment since I have never lived in a home with cable TV...
