TYM T494H or Yanmar YT347

Does the t494h have a yanmar engine?

You will more than likely enjoy the YT 347 features that the other
tractors don't have. You need to test drive them both so you can
evaluate with hands on which one you want or will best serve you

I am looking between these two tractors.

I have about 35 acres in SW Colorado at 7500' elevation. Forested land a bit rugged with Ponderosa and pinyon/juniper. Will be mainly using it for brush hogging gambel oak, 700' driveway maintenance, maybe some snow moving...

I like the idea of less electronics in the kukje motor but like the more established yanmar...Any issues with either of these? Pros and cons? Both dealers by the property are very small and non-dedicated(meaning they do other type business other than tractors).

Would like to hear from owners of either, or even owners of other tractors of these manufacturers.

If anyone has owned or used both these machines even better.

Thanks
I bought my MX6000 at SW agriculture in Bayfield, Colorado. Since this is near your property, I highly recommend that you check them out. They were fantastic to deal with and the dealership is long established with great selection. I know you didn’t ask about Kubota, but in SW Colorado they have the best service and parts warehouse in the region.

It has a kukje motor....they say that is basically a cummins motor. The nice thing about that motor is no big electrical harness...a lot less sensors and easier to work on. At least that is what I heard.

Yeah, if they were in my price range I would do that. But even a used MX5400 is quite a bit more.

Yeah, the Kukje has no sensors. The motor will run no matter what. No dummy sensors and simple mechanical injection.

Whatever you buy, be sure you have local service. I know that is limited in SW Colorado. SW Ag is the only full service parts and service in that area that I’m aware of.

Owned one for Yrs. and still use it to the day. Hard to beat the reliability factor.
YANMAR Tractor Heritage
Maybe the Yanmar is so reliable because of the quality. It's easy to see the quality when you look inside one. The two we had - for 40 and 20 years - never needed any repairs at all. Just routine mainenance.

For many years the downside to Yanmars was the cost. They were more expensive to buy new than most other tractors.

Org. rice patty tractor I bought it from a Fredricks supplied dealer which was a Dealer lot full of Refurbished YM series. Looked as though it rolled off a boat from Japan. New seat was about it then! I left him a Chk. for his asking price until I could get back with a trailer. Seat, Rebuilt starter and I relined/new Tubed the Bridgestones. The Lugs are still Huge!! 900's Tach Hrs. now and like 012 when I bought it. My lawn mower and trust me that's been a lot of Grass!!

The Kukje is a Cummins A series with a couple small changes. Cummins sold them the rights. The A series was originally made by Onan, then Cummins bought it. Some people will argue that it's not a real Cummins engine, but they seem to be pretty reliable so it kinda does not matter.

TYM had three lines- Yanmar engined TYM made machines, Kukje engined ones, and former Branson machines with Kukje engines. The latter are often built sturdier than the TYM chassis machines. The ex-Branson machines have the ability to command a regen, which can be useful for people operating in cold climates. Earlier models, and I think the Kukje engined TYMs, have a continual regen DPF. It works fine if you operate in warmer climates and work the tractor hard enough often enough. Mine's been fine.

I'd test drive both the TYM and the Yanmar. And check out the dealerships. TYM (and also Branson) have had some really good dealerships but also some small fly by night ones. Those often disappear after a few years.
