Tym vs Massey Ferguson

From what you posted, I would consider the Massey 2850e model. You sound like primary usage will be loader work, and fairly heavy. The larger 2800 series will handle those no problem and lift higher to boot. The 1800M are very high quality and probably do what you need, but the added capability of the next class up will proabaly suit you well and not that much more. Compare 2800 series Massey to TYM 494 and 574. Wasn’t sure what model TYM you are looking at. Kioti NS is another to check out.

TYM will get you most bang for buck, but the other makes will likely have better support with better parts availability, especially Massey. TYM has some ongoing growing pains. Will probably work it out, but not as of yet.

Not really lack of support, just low inventory for a part he should not really need. The original dealer messed up the tractor before he bought it. OP found some guy on FB that claimed a similar issue was fixed by an alternate part. OP insisted on that part. New dealer agreed to help. TYM sourcing the part, but it is not a standard part for that model and literally thousands of these are in operation without this problem or a need for the part.

I've probably followed closer than anyone as I recommended it to the OP and have family near him. I also own the same tractor and if there was a problem I wanted to know. I feel horrible, but the root cause was the Iowa dealer that sold him a broken unit.
Well, it was a brand new machine. TYM should be stepping up to the plate, not so much the dealer. Sounds like a crappy dealer (the original selling dealer), but still TYM has a responsibility to sell a brand new working machine, and not something that will be not usable for months. Surely, they have a tractor they can rob the part from, but just not willing to lose a sale. So far, 2 dealers have not been able to supply a working machine.

Tym must be getting better at there customer service. Last time i had to deal with tym hq i couldnt get ahold of them. I just called them about a question with my backhoe and i got right through to some one. Sent them pics via email, now lets see how long it takes for a reply

Thread Title, "TYM vs Massey Ferguson".

Massey Ferguson wins for me!

Though I would give TYM a good consideration based on the TYM dealer in your area. I haven't seen "Daves Tractor" on here for a while. He is one of the larger Branson dealers (now TYM by default). But he can be quoted as if a dealer doesn't stock parts, then they shouldn't be a dealer.
I would hunt for a large volume TYM dealer to purchase from, if I was to go that route.

Isn't this the TYM that showed up NEW with 20 hours on it, or something of that nature? Dealer claimed it was "dyno" time?

Pretty sure you are correct on the dealer saying it was Dyno time, I recall 13 hours but I could be wrong on that.

Well I went to the tym/ls dealer and they were closed. I still looked around a bit and they had some ls tractors mt 225e Mt 340 mt 357 and only a tym 3515h. Then I went to the Massey dealer. I didn’t realize the 1835e was so much smaller than the others. It wasn’t in the running cuse of the lower lift capacity anyway.

So if I go Massey it’s gonna be the 1835m or the 2850e. The 2850 can lift like an extra thousand pounds which is my main concern. The treadle peddle is a negative so is the loader valve up on the loader. But and extra 1k lbs is an extra 1k lbs……… maybe I’ll go look at the ls and tym guy tomorrow.

The 3515h is a legacy Branson model, and it's an especially nice machine. One could argue it's a little crude in fit and finish to the Massey M's, but they're absolute tanks. Heavy, well built; stout.

On the other hand, those Iseki (right?) built Masseys are excellent machines in their own right; the E models are a little crude, but the M are world class.
