I've got the turbo version. No problems so far. I'm mostly in trees, so cab is not worth it. I figured I could rent a mini ex for much less than the cost of the backhoe. Unless it is for light commercial work, it may not be for you either. It may be worth trying to estimate how many hours worth of backhoe work you have planned.
I know I wouldn’t use it a hell of a lot. What keeps me on the fence is I like to kinda be ready for whatever. I don’t need a backhoe today but who knows what tomorrow might bring…..

Do you know if there’s any difference in the 494 and yours other than the turbo? It’s a 2k difference between the two tractors I think.

No other difference at all. Mine was only $1500 difference. I wanted the extra PTO HP for my uses. I also added the 3rd function.

I’m def doing 3rd function they want 1400 for that. I wonder how much a new turbo costs if it craps out. Forks for sure maybe a grapple and I have an odd attraction to getting a rototiller.

Depending on where you live the turbo can be highly desirable. At higher elevations, non-turbo engines lose power. The turbo makes them breathe better in those circumstances. Most of us in the Rocky Mountains region buy machines with turbos.

I may get the turbo just cuse why not I mean it’s not much more money in the grand scheme of things. I like how their engines are simple and it looks like I could just remove or smash out the dpf if I wanted to and the tractor would work just fine.

Turbos don’t usually crap out. They are extremely reliable. Most are ruined by operator error-which is shutting down a really hot tractor without cooling it off, or not changing the oil
enough.

Hmmm, I don’t know about that. Emissions devices are usually built with tamper-resistant features. In other words, if you remove them without using a defeating device, it won’t work just fine. You can probably buy or carefully design a DPF work-around, but you usually can’t just smash out the DPF.

On a Kukje engine you can. Its mechanical (no computers).

I’m back and fourth but I’m narrowing it down. I’m gonna skip the hoe and cab I really don’t need them and they’re expensive. So now I gotta decide either the Massey 2850e or the tym 494. Looks like around a 3500 or so dollar difference between the dealers prices with the attatchments I wanna get.
3rd function, grapple, tire fluid, forks. Price isn’t too far off so might be worth stepping up to the Massey. feel it’s probably a safer decision cuse of agco
but those tym apecs look nice too!
