ULSD and Power Service - question

So what are they selling? The refineries are only making on-road ULSD. The distributors and retailers will have to carry ULSD as their on-road (not dyed) fuel since they no longer have a choice. Also, the pumps must be marked as to what they are pumping.

There is no EPA dispensation for the Richmond area. Someone is blowing smoke here.
I agree something seems fishy here. The switch to ULSD was made at the refinery I work for in April. All diesel fuel (taxed and untaxed) is 15 ppm sulphur or less. Here is one of the better articles I have found on the subject.

I wonder if its possible the change has been made, but the labels havent changed yet because the LSD was'nt purged from the tanks.. Maybe the stations are mixing the fuel with the expectation of the ULSD flushing the LSD out? Just a thought..

The EPA has published a paper describing how to purge the tanks before filling with ULSD.

I believe retailers are still allowed to sell their existing supply of LSD fuel until the end of the year. Since no more on-road LSD is being produced, and hasn't been produced since June 2006, ULSD will now be all that they can get.

I have not seen any ULSD stickers on any pumps around here, I suspect that ULSD may be going into the tanks but either the sulphur content is still to hight because of the LSD that was in the tanks before, or they just have not changed stickers yet. I sure hate to have a truck requiring ULSD and not finding fuel for it.

I told the wife that our truck would have to make untill the 2008 models come out, to many changes at one time for 2007s.

Careful, when I said that a long, long time ago, the Kings & Queens, Wizards & Earls who prowl the net got upset with me !
Now that the enviro's have gotten their way with ULSD Diesel Fuel (and taken over this Thread) it looks like the next target is Farm Animals, here is a report I found on the net a couple days ago from the U.N., not too much media coverage, wonder why ............ ?

" WASHINGTON — When it comes to global warming, there are bigger culprits than the car: Cattle, pigs and chickens.

So says a new report from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. The report estimates that the livestock production worldwide is responsible for 18 percent of greenhouse gas emissions, more than the transportation sector produces."

Gee ! more than the whole transportation sector ?

P.S. while waiting for my "AUTO" delivery of home heating oil noticed I was starting to run dry on fuel for my house furnace, put in 10 gallons of on road ULSD Diesel, winter treated with Power Service (white bottle) for my tractor, furnace is running great, its good too have that "peace of mind" working for me, even in my furnace

Question is, is it running better and getting better MPG. :D

As for the farm animals there is light at the end of the tunnel (or at the back end of the cow). I have seen some large farms that now have methane recovery systems. Like solar power hopefully some day the technology will decrease in price and become cost effective.

Mad I live in the Fort Smith, Arkansas area and the only service station that I have stopped at that is selling ULSD is Wal Mart.
