Whiskey,Ok, Here is another update for you! I have been busy working on the cab and today it got up to 62 degrees, (not bad for NY) so I got some work done. I moved the rolling frame into the other garage so I would have more room in the shop.
I have been posting alot of my work on another forum called BenzWorld. Its easy to use and you can upload high res. photos real easy. here is the address to the post. There are alot of photos of the cab there. BenzWorld post
Looks good. Nice job on the roof. Man, that looks rough around the gutters. Not much left in some spots. Do you remove all the rusty spots and then patch in new metal?
Mossroad, I removed all of the old gutters and used the new van roof. I cut out all of the metal that you see above the doors and center door post. When the new roof is one the spots under the new gutters are just from the welding and where I grinded off the paint. The rest of the metal is solid, other than a few spots here and there. Some small patching is all that is needed. Von
I was channel surfing and came across a TV show on the History channel called 'Modern Marvels'. The theme of the show was Extreme Trucks. One of the trucks highlighted was none other than the 'Unimog'.
Talk about versatility. The show highlighted many of the different implements available. Showed the extreme grades it's capable of climbing. Mud-bogs it can easily cross. What an awesome machine.
