Is it possible to use a word processor to post? If so, how. I use Wordperfect 10. Windows XP Home.
Thanks

Kevin I type the majority of my posts within Microsoft Word 2000 so I am sure yours will work as well. It's quick and it automatically spell checks for me. Once finished I cut and then paste the post into TBN. I find it works quicker that the spell checks already at TBN. Most likely that is because the program resides on my hard drive. Good Luck! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I found the hard way that cut and paste from Microsoft Word 2000 works, but much of the formatting, such as tabs, is lost when it processes as a post. What you see in 2000 may not be exactly what you get posted!

This is because the posts are really in a form of HTML (this forum strips out real HTML formatting), not using your word processor format.

I don't really understand the need for using a word processor -- you can type your messages directly on TBN, and review it as it will appear, and continue to edit, or post. Now, Muhammad even added a spell checker feature for those who are poor spellers.

If your wanting a spell check and don't like the one on site, try iespell. I use to cut and paste for MWord, but with iespell all you have to do when you type in the block is to right click and start the corrections. Iespell works on any form on the net. BTW, it is a free download.

Yes, I use ieSpell, too.... sometimes. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Most of the time, I just proof read it once and go on. I miss many things, but it's close enough. IeSpell works very nicely.

Jerry, your previous post about ieSpell in the spell check thread caused me to download it. It's great! Works even faster than the one in MS Word. Sure, I'm glad we have a spell checker available on TBN, but ieSpell is faster, easier, and it works on all the other forums in which I participate, where the sysops are not as kind as TBN's and haven't installed a spell checker.

I'm a good speller, but my fingers have dyslexia - I tend to reverse letters as I type. I used to have to laboriously proofread everything, now I just let it go and run ieSpell.

As an example, I just typed "everytihng" in the sentence above, and ieSpell gave me the correct choice. I had to tell it to ignore the second instance in this paragraph in order to make my point.

OK who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? I also just downloaded IeSpell and it really does work. It's also quicker than cutting and pasting as I was doing in my word processing program. Thanks for the tip guys! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

One of the first references to ieSpell was by JerryG on 12/19/02 in this post.
