Asking anyone with an all steel 6x10, 6x12 single axle utility trailer if they can be easily moved by hand? I have a 7x18 aluminum car hauler and am looking for a smaller trailer for my UTV but if they are too heavy to be easily moved by hand why spend the money. Thanks

I can't move mine but my son-in-law can if that answer's your question. If not, maybe you can" try it before you buy it.":confused3:

I don't have a small trailer since I only need one 2 or 3 times a year. However, My neighbor needs his tractor hauled a few times a year so I haul it with my 22' tilt bed trailer and he lets me use his 6 x 12 single axle trailer to haul my ATV. His has rear drop down split gates and a right side drop down gate for side loading. The tongue is way too heavy for one person (probably even two) with that extra side gate but I can easily move it around with my trailer mover attachment on the 3 pt. of the tractor. If it was aluminum one person might be able to move it by hand. He does have a smaller 6 x 8 than can be moved by one person but I haven't used it.

As I got older I stopped moving trailers by hand, even the light ones. I don't want to risk getting hurt so that's what the tractor is for.

My 4x8 has an A-frame tongue and is movable by hand, but just barely. Sometimes I think I am asking for a back injury trying to move it. If a wheel falls in a dip or rut, or it's on sloped ground, it is really too much to do by hand.

My 5x8 is easily moved by hand. I’ve used a second 5x8 that’s too heavy to move by hand. I’ve used a 6x10 that’s too heavy to move by hand. Stacking some weight on the back helps a lot.

Appreciate your experiences, I guessed it might be a handfull, it is one thing to roll a trailer in a parking lot and another to drag one over rough ground. My adolescence mind keeps getting my baby boomer back into trouble.

I rarely need to haul my UTV or ZT mower and wouldn't even consider buying another trailer if my car hauler wasn't located 100-miles round trip from where my UTV is kept and it is really way to much trailer for towing a UTV. Also I don't want another trailer sitting around my back yard as I already have three boat trailers and a much smaller utility trailer. I can rent an aluminum 6x10 trailer from TSC for $20/day so I will likely just make due.

I have difficulty moving the lighter 5x8 over rough ground and add much incline and I can’t do it.

We have a 6x10 and with the split tailgates on, it moves easily by hand. With the tailgates off, there is too much tongue weight.

My PJ 7 x 14 single axle is too heavy to move by hand, but hooked to the truck or tractor it pivots and moves nicely.

I have a 5.5x10 trailer that is easy for me to move around. I have a bad left knee and shoulder but it is well balanced. I would advise going to different trailer dealers and trying to pick up the tongue and seeing how easy or difficult the trailer is to move. I would like to get a single axle 14 footer myself.

My 6 x 10 steel trailer can be moved by hand. However, this is on the trailer tongue wheel jack and good hard surfaces.. Also the tailgate has some additional angle iron runners on it counter balancing the tongue. But it can be a bear on loose dirt. Jon 1119151319.jpg1119151319a.jpg

6x12 with wood floor, I cannot move by hand.
5x8 with expanded metal floor, I can easily lift the tongue and push it around on grass.

Hello,
A few months ago I bought a 5.5' x 10' aluminum utility trailer from Tractor Supply. I bought it to haul my Gator XUV 550. The Gator fits real nice because of the extra half foot in width. I haven't really tried to wheel it around by hand on grass or dirt, but it moves real easily on the concrete in my garage. I mounted the spare tire on the side of the trailer behind the left wheel, so that keeps extra weight off of the front where you lift it up. I also have a 4'x8' steel trailer and the tongue weight on that is heavier than the aluminum one. The aluminum trailer is real easy to wheel around in the garage when trying to position it just right. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I like the top on that. Did you use 3/4" EMT for the frame?

Yes. Proto type was out of 1" pvc electricaltubing/fittings. (because I needed 45 deg elbows.) Had a tarp for few years until the wind destroyed the tarp. So I used a tubing bender to fab the supports and laid corrugated roofing metal over the bars. Works great, keeps snow and slop off the Gravely snowblower in the winter. Jon

I rented the same trailer and really liked it, I just can't seem to part with the $2500 they are asking. Thanks

Hey Beltzington,
When I first was looking at the trailer from TSC, they were 1799.99. I wasn't sure if I really needed it, so I held off. Then a month or so later, I saw that they were 1899.99. I thought about it some more but still didn't pull the trigger. In another month or so I saw they were 1999.99 so I said if I was ever going to buy one, I better do it.....and I did. I just looked at their website and see that now they are regularly 2199.99, but are ON SALE now for 1949.99. I have never seen that trailer go on sale...steel ones yes, but never the aluminum one. Now is the time to jump on one ! :)

Adding a wheel to the front jack makes moving any trailer easy.
