Sorry, I got a little carried away.

It's all good. :) Actually if anyone can catch me in the post office I'll gladly hand over a crisp $100 bill.

I'm following this thread since I'd like a better holster then I have now. I'm using an Uncle Mikes which holds the gun OK, but will shift around the pocket.
Have you tried the Uncle Mike's inside waistband holster? The piece is much easier to access from there than from a pocket. And you'll get used to it. In fact, I prefer it there now instead of in my pocket. It was too much fumbling around getting it out of my pocket...

I carry a ruger LCR (5 shot .38) in a packet holster everywhere I go (have been for quite a while). The biggest advantage is that I just grab it and go. I found that for more complicated holsters I would sometimes skip carrying because I was in a hurry or didn't want to bother.

The best CC rig is the one that you will use every time. A really nice holster that takes too much work to grab will go unused.

A High Standard .22 Mag 2 shot derringer hass the wallet holster with trigger access hole. Hard to find but great for closeup protection whenever someone wants you to hand over your wallet.

A properly designed pocket holster will prevent the gun from shifting. I have two: A Galco and a Mika's. These are both for .38 snubbies. Since I normally carry the LCP in a vest pocket, I haven't found the right holster yet.
As far as IWB carry...tried it, never liked it. I'd go for one of the clip retainers first.

I use one of these with my KELTEC P38:

I go NOWHERE without it. Also I have on of the clips that go on the slide that allows you to attach it to the outside of your clothing......... I have put maybe 400 rounds downrange using the holster. For me, I dont like my little finger and ring finger not having a place to grasp, so I use an 8 round clip available from KELTEC....... Makes for a more stable grip when aiming..........Again, I go nowhere without it this way and most folks have no idea because of the shape that it is a weapon..............The only negative is that the barrel being open tends to get pocket crud in it and therefore requires a bit of maintenance that otherwise is not necessary perhaps with a closed holster............It is there when I need it. I would not carry something larger.....God bless.....Dennis

Two questions about that holster:
Which pocket do you carry it in?
When you pull it out, how do you grab it?
With the two holes (one for the trigger, one for a finger), it would seem natural to pull using those two holes (especially if one is in a stress situation). But that would put one finger on the trigger before the gun is out of your pocket...not a good idea and a very good chance of an accidental firing.

With a Keltec the trigger pull is verrrrry long and is actually a safety feature......I carry it all different ways....Yesterday, I was at a goat sale in Tenn........had it in my inside pocket of my Carhardt vest, sometimes in the front right pocket of my Levis, sometimes clipped to the front of my right pocket, cargo pants in a thigh pocket, on and on........

No I havent found myself putting pressure on the trigger as I pull it out of where I have it nor is it difficult to keep a finger out of the trigger guard.......One reason I have the longer clip is for a better grip when deploying the weapon and using it..................God bless........Dennis

The LCP also has a long, stiff pull on the trigger (as do most DAO handguns). As I wrote, in a quick pull under stress, that long stiff pull could be overcome quite easily. It's a neat design...don't think I'd carry it in my back trouser pocket though (my LCP is normally carried in a vest pocket).

Would it be possible to put a small piece of that very sticky scotch tape over the end of the barrel to keep junk out?

I wouldn't...it would be preferable (IMHO) to keep a clean handkerchief in the pocket below the barrel. Keep the pocket as clean as possible and, of course, nothing in the pocket except the gun and holster.
You'll also want to get in a daily routine of cleaning the gun, but do ensure it's unloaded and the chamber is cleared. By cleaning, I mean wiping it down and removing lint and other debris. You shouldn't have to disassemble the gun for this type of cleaning. I use a lightly moistened (with oil) Q-tip for this.
