Watcha eating?

Yeah, they claim there is a genetic factor involved...I intend to explore that aspect; otherwise, the critics are saying there is no evidence to support a basis for such a diet. I do know that I have always been a meat eater, and that I never cared much for bread and grains (God's gift to man...beer excepted).

I can do without most bread and grains as well....except I do like a whole wheat bun for a hamburger...and I love Bagets ..those crunch little french bread long thin loafs...have not had any in years but they are great with cheese...which I also have not had in years...grains are meant for fattening cattle and other livestock...yet folks eat cereal every morning and oatmeal....then they eat corn, barley, wheat etc. and wonder why we have an obesity epidemic....LOL

Hey, those irresponsible and rude herbivores make methane gas that contributes to global warming. Eating them is good for the planet's health.

Hey, I resemble that remark, and I don't BBQ well.

DABSGT, I did not know that Apples were the worst food as far as cancerous pesticides are concerned. (So says the Government also)
Just organic for me from now on APPLES! The nonfiction book "The Orchard" was an eye opener.

A while ago ... Grossed out a city friend on the phone. She asked this very same question. I said chicken heads ... Long, long pause... while she retched. Marshmallow peeps are very good this season !

I'm with out. Much prefer pork to beef barbecue for ribs anyway. Brisket is pretty tasty though.

We love pork ribs...baby backs and then 2nd would be beef ribs but the beef ribs around here in the grocery stores are really expensive....$7.00+ a pound ...for mostly bone....You can buy rib eye for that...geez.

I'm anxious to hear if you tried my method and recipe for smoked baby backs; but I admit to being a fanatic. BBQ can become an obsession if you're not careful.

Here's a recipe for the BBQ crowd; they are called ABTs. I have made these several times and guests can't get enough (most don't like 'em hot, so remove veins AND seeds).

Appetizer, Atomic Buffalo Turds

INGREDIENTS:
12 3-3 1/2 Inch Jalapenos - fresh
1 8 Ozs Pkg. Cream Cheese
12 Ozs. Bacon (regular sliced-NOT thick sliced)
1 Package Smoked Cocktail Wieners (Lil' Smokeys)
Dry BBQ Rib Rubb
Dehydrated onion flakes
Wood Chunks (Apple, Hickory, Mesquite, Pecan, Oak or Guava Wood work well)

Procedure:
Wash, remove stems and halve jalapenos lengthwise. Only cut the stem off, don't cut the end of jalapeno off to remove the stem. If the jalapenos are pretty fresh. you can pull the stems off fairly easy. Remove seeds and veins (leave veins in if you would like a hotter ABT).

Fill jalapeno halves with cream cheese, then top with a cocktail wiener; sprinkle with onion flakes. Put the two halves together and wrap the whole thing with a piece of bacon. Secure each end of the bacon with a toothpick.

Sprinkle a liberal amount of BBQ rub all over the surface of the bacon.

Put 2-3 chunks of wood on the coals and place ABT’s on the grid.
Cook about 1 and 1/2 hours at 250 degrees, or until the bacon is done. The cooking part is the art; you can cook at a higher temp, but watch them and turn them once if you would like (this is from memory, so check the at appropriate intervals to make sure you don't burn them).

Allow to cool several minutes before serving.

Note: I plan to use breakfast sausage next time instead of Lil' Smokies; brown it in the skillet first.

When I was buying the pork loin on Friday, I looked at the baby back ribs and put them right back in the cooler! They were far more expensive than the pork loan! I think the ribs were $6-8 a pound!:shocked::shocked:

Made home made pancakes this morning for breakfast and made dough for a whole wheat bread and a whole wheat/rye bread. The dough will sit and rise all day without need of kneeding. Soaked two pounds of field peas over night. Today I can make the field peas with onions, carrots, garlic(I hope from the US ), celery and some of the smoked pork loin from Friday night. :licking::licking::licking: This evening we will have the field peas and bread for dinner. :licking::licking::licking:

If I have time, London Broil was on sale so making some jerky is in the near future. :D:licking::licking::licking:

Later,
Dan

2Lane; The Atomic Buffalo Turds sound WONDERFUL. I'll leave the ribs and seeds in the jalapenos though! If it isn't hot enough to break a sweat, it isn't worth eating! :D :licking:
