Wow. How fortuitous to catch these things quickly. ... That tank should probably be installed upright to prevent accumulation of any sediment in the bladder.

Yep, the light that comes on when the pump runs has been a good thing several times.

Cycle Stop says the tank can be installed in any position, I'll have to ask him about sediment.

Here is an update on installing the pside-kick system.

Cobbled together a brace for the hydrant so I could dig the dirt away from it.

Spent many hours searching the WWW for a box to use, looked at Ground Sleeves, Handholes and Meter Boxes.

Found the Carson 1730, 18" body: http://www.oldcastleprecast.com/pla...ents/4024d4a7-3583-472f-84ab-bd837c9709ff.pdf

With the extension, it is 36" high.

That is too high, so I planned to cut 10" off the bottom to get the needed height.

Then I discovered if put this way it is the right height.

Used a hole saw and recip saw to make slots for the pipe.

Moved the pressure tank up off of the ground so I could put the box in the hole for a test fit.

The hole is about 30 inches deep at the center.

Water level dropped six inches in six hours.

You need to pump that surface runoff water out. It will saturate and destabilize the hole.

Yep, "Pumped" it out using a gallon jug, with part of the top cut away! Now my arm is destabilized.

Moved the support bracket and tank to the center of the hole, that will make it easier to put the underground box in the hole.

attachment.php

Made a diversion dam and shallow trench to keep rain runoff from filling the hole again.

It has been too hot to do anything during the day, so I do a couple of hours in the mornings.

Last week I got the PVC conduit made up to run the wiring for the pressure switch.

This shows the top box in the hole. The hydrant will be installed in the corner were the slots are cut. It will be held in by U-bolts.
