SHF ... I have one of the auto-darkening models that's solar powered. Solar = generating electricity from light .... think about that super bright flash from the arc ... and then think about solar .... works great. Also has a backup battery just in case, like me, you don't use it all that often.
I went auto because I have a real problem "remembering" where the electrode tip (or mig wire .. got both) was when I flipped the glass down. This actually allows me to see .....
technology can be a good thing!

too bad that common sense ain't

Glad to hear it's working for you. I've looked at them several times. They have a nice big view area. My problem is keeping the electrode in the right place WHILE dropping the lens. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif My MIG arc is bright, but the pool is kinda dim and I have to get my face in real close to follow it. Add to that my eyes ain't what they usta be on the close up stuff, and that auto hemet is sounding better and better, think it might come with corrective lenses? /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif.
