Welding Web Down?

FYI we've tried reaching the owner but no response. It seems Informa no longer owns it. The domain record e-mail forwarder is bouncing too so honestly I have no idea who even owns the site right now. Sad to see it in this condition. Can't register, can't see today's posts, can't search, lots of formatting problems, no photos, etc.
This recent post might lead to something. If Endeavor can't be found diectly then maybe the HVAC-talk admins know a little more. They somehow got their site up. They had to have someone's permission to do that:
I found this on HVAC-talk website. They had been down too.
""HTalk was sold to Endeavor along with dozens of other forums in the mechanical industry in December. All of these sites were pushed over to the new owners host except the VB sites such as us and Welding Web".
And another path to the owner might be to ask the VB helpdesk folks directly. I expect they are getting calls from the new WW admin. Who indicated he joined WW a week ago. :)

Hmmm, bottom of the forum now says "Copyright © 2020 MH Sub I, LLC dba vBulletin". "MH Sub I, LLC" appears to be "Internet Brands" (per Wikipedia: Internet Brands - Wikipedia )
To go along with that, the most recently created member is named ibadmin ( WeldingWeb™ - Welding forum for pros and enthusiasts ) and they are listed as an admin.
So, I would suspect that Welding Web is now owned by Internet Brands.

Well internet brands owns the vbulletin software. So that could be the standard copyright notice attached to all fresh vb licenses.

However IB also owns a bunch of forums.

Either way I should just start a welding forum.

On the internet there are forums for welding, of course WW was very useful. There are other forums for metal working (drilling holes, milling, lathes, etc). But for fabrication, which requires a mix of tools, techniques, and skills, there is not much. Here on TBN the welding forum and the build it yourself forum used to have a fair amount of fabrication threads. These days not so much. I have no way to know, maybe it is just wishful thinking, but it seems to me a site or a forum focused on fabrication would find an enthusiastic membership.

That looks like they used one of those new Gorilla Glue brand welders.

At first I thought there was swarm of bee's landed on it..

There Is probable 100 welding forums out there...... Don't need another one.... Just cruise around and find one that fits your style...

It's pretty hard to establish a new site and get it going when you are competing with many others already in existence, even mediocre sites... Been there, done that, got the disappointment badge to prove it (but was not a welding site) ....

Leasing space on server is simple, getting domain name is simple, getting software is simple, configuring site takes a lot of time and thought, getting users, most difficult part of whole operation...

Years ago in high school I got a Cadillac V8 bare engine as trade for something then sold it to a kid who was building a 34 Plymouth Coupe for the drag races. His first time out the engine twisted loose and the coupe came to rest on its side. No injuries but the car was trashed. A high school friend had persuaded him he knew how to weld and had borrowed someone's welder to made the motor mounts. The welds must have looked like that photo.

In contrast to that - here's one of the first repairs I made after buying a yard-sale $50 stick welder. (230a AC). It's the hinge for a single-panel wooden garage door - lap siding over wood framing - maybe 200 lbs. The rivet head at the end of the hinge pin had torn out of the lifting arm. This isn't pro level in appearance but its solid, no problems have appeared by now, 15 years later.

I saved a lot more than the cost of the welder compared to calling a garage door company to fix it. Advice I got on WW got me started in the right direction learning to use that welder.

Well I can now view. And log in. Tried posting. Worked twice , third time no. Cancel, edit and preview features don’t work.

Tried half a dozen ways that others were able to use to post pics and none worked for me.

Tapatalk is definitely out. Wondering if it is an iPad / iPhone problem.

WTF. Thinking about joining a sewing forum. Less BS and maybe better looking members.

I was using google as a browser also but only have mobile devices. No laptop or desktop.

It acknowledges me when I log in and shows my notifications etc.

No problem quoting a post but no way to edit, preview, or cancel.

It just shows “working”

I’ll just leave it a few days and try again. Worst case scenario I’ll have to sell my welders.
