Crab, as in "I had to crab it out with the Bucket", which is a carryover of doing the same thing with and excavator or loder/Backhoe.

Been doing a lot of it lately.

OP here....I think we have a winner....this term is perfect.

So far you are the winner. That is until some of those guys hanging out around the "Pallets in the Field" see this and break out their dictionary.

A wholly unwarranted and spurious conjecture.

I think Walking It Out is the right term. And those with FEL and backhoe really can WALK a tractor out of the mud. I have used the FEL many times to get myself out of trouble.

Been that, done there. Got my JD750 in the soup with mud coming up over the footboards. I'd curl the bucket all the way forward, pick the back end up with the hoe, roll the bucket back to move the tractor back a couple of feet, and repeat. Had to walk it about 50 feet that way to get unstuck.

I looked like a Star Wars walker. The property owner was sittin' on the porch laughing his butt off.

I got the last laugh tho as I handed him my bill...

Bucket Crawl

The other week I had to do the opposite sort of. I was stuck on a downward incline at my burn pit and couldn't back up. Luckily its only a dropoff at the back of it and goes onto flat ground at the front of it. I was able, with the bucket, to lift the front wheels up and go forward so I didn't scrape the belly of the tractor on the cinder blocks.
No walk of shame, but I will have to redo the cinder blocks since the back wheels sort of dragged them down a bit.

My definition of stuck is if you are spinning your tires and not moving. I use the term stuck even if I could get myself out without the use of outside help. As far as using the front loader to get myself out that is considered "rocking the bucket" to get out. But I do like the term crab as well

If the vehicle will NOT move but the tires do, then you are truly stuck. If you can use the bucket/backhoe to get yourself out, then you are NOT stuck.

I can't stop laughing at your definition because it's so detailed...must respectfully disagree about one point: I had all four tires spinning in reverse with the diff lock engaged, and the tractor would not move, so I was STUCK. Using the FEL bucket to get UNSTUCK is a whole 'nother story...I was STUCK, period....
