What "extras" do you regret when buying nee

I don't buy "new", but after having a tractor with rear remotes, I'll always want them on any future machines.

A few summers back, we rented a little HST, 35hp, tractor and used the FEL much that summer. While doing that, I thought its HST transmission was great and as easy was pie for people to learn to use. Your comments are interesting....

Interesting about hydro. Was convinced that's what I wanted. Spent half hour driving both hydro and shuttle at dealers yesterday. Decided on shuttle. I've got 40+ years experience with clutch, etc. Zero with hydro. Shuttle and clutch just felt like I had more precise control over the tractor. Decision made to go with shuttle!

Third function control and cab.

The "extras" that I regret buying are the third remote on my 4410 and the rear lights. I believe the third remote was a $700 option at the time. Later I found out that the third remote was already there and all I would have needed to do was buy the lever from the dealer and set up my own hoses and remotes. The extra lights with the brush guard are a joke. The guards can handle leaves but that's about it. I wish I would have built my own.

I regret not buying the optional alternator. The standard one can hardly keep up with starting the tractor much less the optional lights.

A cab and a size bigger. I have a BX25 and it's been a great small tractor. Two things buying it taught me though. First, always buy a step up over what you think you'll need. Second, you'll find many more uses than you originally thought.

I was going to purchase a couple very expensive LED flood lights for the tractor - one pointing forward, the other rearward. Then I acknowledged that, since I was retired, I really didn't need to go out and plow snow at night. Actually, out here on my property, there is not much that's legal for me to do at night. Saved me about $1000. That and a LOT more sure got gobbled up when I purchased the Rhino 950 rear blade.

I'm sure glad that I don't have big pastures or fields of brush to mow. I could see needing a new tractor with cab, AC, heat, etc, etc and probably a couple rotary cutters.

Can you believe - 80 acres, way out in the boondocks, and no fields of grass or brush to mow. Ponderosa pines and basaltic lava bedrock don't need a whole lot of maintenance.

My open station Kubota M9540 was purchased with FEL, 12spd, 3 rear remotes, 3rd function, 2spd PTO, radial tires. No regrets. Would buy the same setup again.

I hear you on the night work. By nightfall I'm usually ready to quit.

Not sure I understood your comment about not much legal to do at night?

I like to build stuff and when I purchased my MX5800 I knew up front that I would never finish with Attachments.

There will always be something to Build or Buy in the way of making it what you need.

That's the fun of it.

If buying new it would absolutely have to have a cab, HST and rear remotes.
All the rest I could DIY, well I have DIY'd a cab and remotes so actually only HST.
