Glenn,

Thanks for posting your concern. This is about the nicest thread I have ever read. I will keep my fingers crossed and pray for one of TBN's finest.

My point and position is the following...

It is a general rule online to not post your physical home address and/or phone number. This is for, among other reasons, to prevent the possibility identity theft, stalking, etc, which is something that does in fact happen not infrequently online. Remember that there are thousands of people viewing these forums who may never even post or introduce themselves. Sure, the intentions of those in this thread are good, but we just don't know who all is reading the forum or how they might use that information.

For others to look up another forum member's address and post it, is even worse, especially if that member seems to not check the forum anymore, and not have any way of knowing that his or her address has been posted.

The fact is, although we all wish Thomas were here posting, and are curious as to where he is, what he's doing, and if he's ok, it isn't appropriate to post his address and 'track him down'. He has every right to not post here, not respond to e-mails, and not respond to phone messages. If you wish to contact him, and want to talk with others who wish to do the same, then simply do it off the forum, since it isn't appropriate to post that here.

It's threads like this that make me nervous, worried about those who all of us have grown to respect, for their knowledge and input. It also makes me feel good that this forum is more of a brotherhood than just a discussion board. We all have different opinions and preferences, but all come together in the interest of a brother's well being. Thank you TBN members, and let's keep a prayer in our hearts for Thomas, whatever the outcome.

Point taken about posting an address. But for some of the members to actually care about others in this day and age is to say very touching. Most people don't even care about the person down the street let alone someone over the net.

So if I understand you correctly you would rather that no one cared about anyone as long as they kept posting to keep the site numbers up. I'm sorry but thats the impression I get about your last paragrapgh.

I was going to join this board but now I've thought better of it. You really should edit your last paragraph because you come off sounding pretty darn cullous.

Bubba1,

You misunderstood my point, it seems. Removing Thomas' address from the forum is simply looking out for his interests, not trying to take away a caring act. I have no problem with people posting as they have in this thread, just with the actual address being posted. If HE or a family member of his had posted the address, then I would have no problem with it, although I might advise them to not post it, but rather e-mail it to those who need it, for the reasons I mentioned in my previous post, among others.

Bubba1, sorry you misunderstood. It's not that Muhammad doesn't care about the people - I went out of town for several days and was off line and Muhammad himself sent a private e-mail inquiring as to whether I had a problem - but I'm afraid in this day and age he's right about publicly posting private information. In fact, he's trying to protect Thomas, not prevent others from trying to help.

And I, too, am glad there are members in that area who can check on Thomas, and we all hope everything is OK with him.

I just wanted to say BRAVO to everyone looking out for people and for Muhammad also keeping everyone in check because we need it./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif I am touched that, like what was posted earilier, people are still caring individuals and this just proves it but maybe Thomas wouldn't want his address posted here. I have been here for awhile now and have enjoyed this forum tremendously for both techincal and other information that people share. I am looking forward to good news. Everyone keep up the good work.

Since Thomas' syntax is sometimes somewhat original, I reread his 3/28 post a few more times and can see an interpretation less grim than the one I suggested last night. Maybe he got some sort of electrical shock at work and was just in the hospital for monitoring his heart and vital signs.

As forum master, Muhammad has to worry about and administer issues that the rest of us dont. Privacy is important, and Muhammad's position is a reasonable one even if there can be reasonable disagreements with it.

Thomas was always inviting everyone over for Maxwell House on his front porch, so even if his current silence is intentional, I'm sure he will understand our good intentions.

We all now await the report of Pete's journey.

Okay, this is really getting strange! His phone rings, but isn't answered. So my buddy the police chief here calls his buddy the police chief there, who brings in the county. The county clerk calls Thomas' home. A woman answers, seems unconcerned about our concern, and promises to pass along the message.

So I called Dartmouth College and ask for Thomas. They direct me to the bio-engineering dept and a man with Thomas' name picks up the phone. He is not our Thomas, but assures me he knows him, and that he has been touring the country on a motorcycle with his wife for a couple of months. Did our Thomas ever mention he rode bikes?

At any rate, we're driving down tomorrow morning to talk with the police chief and see what we can find out. Will have the laptop in case we find him. Fingers are crossed.

Pete

Yes,
I do recall he posted quite often about motorcycles.
But I don't recall he ever mentioned a trip.
Then again, he posted a lot! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

whew!
