I am surprised you haven't built a hydraulic lift system to raise and lower your ROPS. That would be a fun project.
Well, I've never put much thought into it. But you got me thinking now.

Hydraulics get expensive really fast but I could just build some sort of bracket that attached to the loader and would somehow engage with the ROPS and lift it as I raise the loader.

Pedro, I recall how and why you installed the winch. Have you ever had to use it yet? If so, what for? I'm thinking of doing the same thing because our place is quite hilly.

I have not used it to pull me out of a stuck or dangerous situation yet. But I've used it a lot for other random things.

We don't do any logging but every once in a while, we have to take the occasional tree down on the garden that either grow to big or grow leaning to one side making it dangerous. These trees are usually in tight spaces and require some serious thought before cutting. The winch comes in very handy as I can cut about 75% of the diameter, then pull the tree, break the remaining 25% and make it fall wherever I need.

Before I had made the set of forks, I just ran the cable through the quick attach on the loader and used the hook attached on the top link pin to move some implements around. I've also pulled stumps for my uncle on places that I couldn't get the tractor close to. I've used much more than I thought I would really but I usually don't have the phone with me so I don't have much pictures of the winch in use.

Two things I need to do to the winch is increase the springs tension on the bar that keeps the cable on the spool and cut around 30/35 ft of cable out of the 165 ft I have at the moment. It fills the spools to the max diameter and the cable tends to pop out of the spool and wrap around the gear and against the bearings.

Time flies when your having fun! Spent some time today fixing a drainage problem before the rain comes again this week. Apparently, if you get in the zone of your work and are nice and comfortable in your nice cab, you might forget to keep an eye on the fuel gauge! Whoops!

I am pretty sure today is the first time in my life I ran a tractor fuel tank dry. I thought for a second, what the heck happen to this engine! Then, before I tried to restart, I looked at the gauge and saw the problem. Thankfully, it was no issue getting it back up and running again!

Since I had the grader blade on already, I decided to redo the driveway. It is a lot smoother now!

I've been lucky so far to not run out of fuel, but I have been on a side slope that caused it to suck a little air when the level started getting low in the tank. Fortunately I was able to turn it down hill and flat again, and then high tail it over to the shop and fill the tank.

Yeah I've had numerous times when I thought "a winch would come in real handy right now." And yes, it seems like many winches I've seen are overloaded with cable.

Looks good. I'm still trying to get good with my box blade. I understand now why a road grader's blade is belly mounted.

Ditto. Hopefully we're not jinxed now.

ptsg,

Thank you! I was thoroughly entertained and educated by your explanations!

I attached my backhoe because I have to dig the footings for the new carport. I really struggled with the hydraulic connections. I then took down an old dying multi-trunk oak. I wish I had a grapple but make the most of my pallet forks.

Hello....how do you connect your backhoe to your tractor hydraulics. My backhoe runs off a standalone PTO driven pump. I gave been thinking about changing it so I can use my tractor hydraulics. I have a 2013, 5220c that has two factory mounted rear hydraulic valves....which one can I use?... Or can I ??
Thanks

Maybe a couple of 12 volt linear actuators.... See them on eBay a lot

My backhoe came dealer installed. It was actually delivered with the backhoe attached. There is a supply and a return hose on both the tractor and the backhoe which make up to each other. There's no valves really, except the control valves on the backhoe itself.

Not sure if I've answered your question at all.
