What is going on here?

Well, I don't understand what the dark line in the tooth above my thumb was in the pic. I looked the gear over about 5 times and there is no crack or sign of the dark line.

That's good news, I was very concerned.

About the drive line pulling on the clip if the drive shaft is sliding in and out as designed that should never happen. Check your drive shaft and make sure its sliding properly. I could see the problem occuring if the shaft got in a bind. ? Glad it didn't break up your gearbox. If the drive shaft ever seizes then major damage can occur.

I believe that the extreme angle of the wing had the drive line in a bind. The shaft moves freely by hand.

Parts came yesterday. I gave them a wrong part number or they punched in the wrong number. Either way I'm short one grease seal and got a extra snap ring (different size) instead. One number difference in the parts book, simple mistake.

In the mean time I've been able to finish that lot and another with the disc mower.
