Tractor
John Deere 4630
I had planned on purchasing this tractor new:
Kubota M126XDTC
M9235 Fuel Tank Guard
E9276B AM/FM/CD/Weather Band
M9220 Instructors Seat
LA2253 Loader
M1488 Self Leveling Valve
M1886 96" Bucket
M1523 Grill Guard
M1523 Pallet Fork Frame
K9049 48" Forks
M1874 Bale Spear
M1555 Third Function Valve
M1997E Hose Kit
Don't know the Kubota numbers, but added this also
Creep(slow speed needed for the big roto tiller)
4 Rear Wheel Weights
Rear Glass Defogger

This tractor would see a variety of work, including: farming, mowing, swathing, haying, bucket work, roto tilling(miles of tree row prep), tree clean up with root rake.

Kubota Credit would not finance the large roto tiller and the root rake I intended to purchase, which totaled about $10K. I did not go ahead with the purchase as planned because of a larger than expected down payment on the tractor, plus the tiller and root rake purchase added up to more than I wanted to take out of my operating funds at the moment.

As I re-visit my next tractor purchase, do any of you have recommendations on tractors of color different than orange that would meet my requirements.

Thanks,

Maynard Reece

The M126x is an awesome machine. I think that you can come close to cutting $10K off your total spend. Here are my ideas:

1. Get at least 3 quotes for the exact same tractor from different dealers.
2. Find out what their lowest negotiated price is.
3. Quote Deere and New Holland and see what models have special deals on. Last year Deere had some good deals in that HP range.
4. Don't buy all off your implements new. Buy used ones in good shape.
5. I love cast wheel weights, but compare their price with tires filled with washer fluid, etc...
6. Rent a tiller or use a disc or plow until your finances improve.
7. If you use a plow instead of a tiller you don't spend the extra $ on a creep gear.
8. Trade in any used equipment that you may have that you no longer need.

Good Luck!!!

Take a look at Deere, New Holland, Case, Massey. They all have tractors that will work well for you.

New Holland either T5070 or T6030. New Holland has great financing right now and will let you include whatever attachments you want to finance. the NH is heavier than the Kubota and a lot sturdier.

What about leasing as an option? Using 50% as a residual, the financing is based on the remaining 50%, usually with little or no down payment and competetive interest rates:)

If they won't finance a tiller they won't lease it either I'd bet.

I'd look at a MF 5460 or 5465, you can set them up with the same types of options.
In JD I'd say a 6000 series in the same hp should be able to be setup the same.
In case-new holland, I don't know their current numbering, a the size you're at would be a large TS or small TM in the old numbering.

Ever watched one of these tracked guys try to turn around at end rows with a rake on them. It's a great show !!! I would stick with a wheeled tractor. I get the impression (and could and am usually wrong) that Kubota made dealers take atleast one of the hermaphradite tractors based on the fact that it seems most dealers in the midwest had 1 and once they managed to get it pushed off on someone you never saw another. Tracks can be great in some soil conditions however so don't pay to much attention to my Rant!!
