HST over power shuttle? Or standard shuttle? I know part oof what throws people off is that unless you run construction equipmment, most people haven't tried a "Power Shuttle"/"Torq Reverser"/what ever each different company refers to it as.

HST over power shuttle.

How about a steering wheel that one can simply rip out, then attach to the side of your tractor for starting?

No DPF required on this tractor either. In fact my friend keeps saying that it will run on just about any fuel, even butter milk!

What is interesting, is that I have owned versions of each and to tell you the absolute truth it just doesn't make any difference. You will adapt to each system in about a days operation. What seems awkward in the dealer's lot becomes a non issue a few hours of operation in. Everyone is different of course, but that was my experience. It seems that out of the box, most people without experience will prefer the side by side setup. But millions of treadle pedal setup tractors have been made, and the users are using them every day and are satisfied with them. I like them both. :)

I also have owned both and do not like the treadle pedal setup. I like the side-by-side. I have over 7000 hours on the side-by-side and only 645 hrs on the treadle pedal setup, so maybe I just need to get use to it.

I do like some treadle set ups which is what I use the most...

I find sometimes I step on both with the side by side.

Nah, if you aint happy in 645 hours, I am guessing you aint going to be happy with the treadle.

OK show of hands.. who likes treadle pedal? Who likes side by side? Who is happy withe either? I am in the either camp.

I originally wanted the side-by-side because it was what I was used to but the tractor I wanted had the treadle so That is what I have now. I have found that it has a few benefits over the side-by-side for me. It is much easier to look over your shoulder in reverse with the treadle because you can sit sideways with your heel on it. Plus it seems much less likely to accidentally hit the wrong direction with the treadle. When I first got it I thought you were supposed to keep your foot on top of the pedal and then rock it back-and-forth to choose the direction you wanted to go. Then I realized that's not the Best way for me. I keep my foot flat on the floor the pedal is wide enough to go around my foot and then just either use my toe or my heel. I often found with the two pedal system, one being right next to the other I would accidentally hit the wrong direction from time to time. this has eliminated that problem.

The TORO Traction Units have the treadle style with a footrest next to it.

Works great for mowing, my toe is on the top and heel on the footrest. To back up I slide my foot over and put my toe on the reverse arrow.

For loader work I put my toe on top and heel on the reverse arrow.

Have pictures but can't post them now after the Forum Upgrade.

I'm sure that I'd make it work either way, but I very much like the treadle pedal on my Kubota. The New Holland is a treadle too, but I don't like it quite as much. I agree with tman, it's very easy to reverse while turned sideways with the treadle setup. Also, it's very easy to maneuver while standing, which I do frequently. Either forward or backwards is easy to accomplish because the pedal is on the floor requiring down force instead of in front of you requiring forward force if that makes sense.

The treadle on my Kubota is very intuitive and user friendly in my opinion.

The treadle peddle/side by side hydrostatic control is definitely a polarizing subject. Hence my request to have a choice among all brands.

Having never used a 'side by side' type pedal, I can't say I don't like it. But having used 4 kubotas and a few terramites extensively with the rocker pedal, I think I favor that style. It just seems more intuitive.

My biggest problem with the treadle is after a few solid days on the tractor my foot seems to think the F250 should have one too. :duh:

I know exactly what you are saying. After operating my old 'bota treadle pedal machine hard and heavy all day, then get in my pickup truck and have your heel start shoving on the floorpan to go in reverse. A split second later you realize "oh yeah, I gotta move a selector lever to R" What a let down.

Having had and used both I will choose the side by side every time. I just simply haven't found a treadle I am comfortable with and since my last knee surgery they all seem even worse now than before
I would think that having a choice that can be switched at the dealership would be a very good option for lots of folks but also think I can understand how many folks could use any of them without bother.

I have used both. I like the treadle pedal better. It is easier to use while looking backwards. It is easier to use while standing up. It just makes more sense IMO.

Side by side but what I would also like to see is a switch that lets you turn off the foot pedals and turn a knob to go faster or slower. This would be instead of the cruise control. At least you would be able to bring your tractor to the same speed every time just by turning a knob to a number on a dial.

I have been very happy with my Kioti, that said, I sure wish it had a tool box !
The tires should be loaded from the factory.
I know I'm stretching here, but heater vents on my feet would be nice.

I'd like to see suspensions on these smaller tractors. You can get them on large Ag tractors and they really help with the ride quality.

These light, short wheel base tractors with small tire footprints are much much rougher than the larger ones. You don't notice it much during a lot of slow task. ie. Loader work, box blading, even mowing. But when you get out and start putting some speed into things like raking hay. Where you are having to double time the baler. No way to slow down baler must not catch rake.

So looks like we have some side by side peddle lovers, some treadle peddle lovers, and one guy (me!) that can get along just fine with either..:)
