What's a fair price for a Kubota L47 TLB that sat on the dealer lot for 3 years?

I guess it has cost him something to sit there for three years. I would not want to pay NEW price for weathered equipment. They pretend like it's not, but if the shoe was on the other foot and you wanted to trade in some newish weathered equipment, then it's a different story.

If you're only going to be using it for homeowner tasks you might not need the L47 and could save a bunch of money going with a regular L series in the same horsepower range and get one that hasn't been sitting for three years.

What you say COULD be true,.... but......the L47 is WAY better at digging than ANY other L series (except my used L48).
I have found in my nearly 80 years on this earth, that it is often better to wait, if necessary, to get what you REALLY want.

In my opinion, the L47 is a small construction/contractor rig. The L series is (if not already) becoming a consumer/homeowner rig. Makes sense, on account of that huge market.

All true!

As for your comment abut getting what you want. I like to play, what would I get if money wasn't an object? That tells me what I want, not what some salesman tell me I need (and that's always on the puney side) or what the neighbours are using. Seems to work for me.

We think EXACTLY alike!

And it is self limiting. I don't want a D9 or a Motor Grader, knowing I would have to look after those and house them. That's kind of a rule I have. Like getting a pet. Don't get anything you don't want to, or can't look after. I like equipment but I don't like being a heavy equipment mechanic.

If that unit has been sitting outside at Fairbanks, Ak - it could have easily seen -40F or colder for extended periods. I would wonder about all the rubber components. Plus all the other expressed concerns. Fairbanks is one location where covered, heated storage is not a luxury.

Well...

I would certainly call it "desirable", no doubts there.

From a guy who's tractor has sat outside for 3 years straight. And yes, it really does get to -40F here.

All my rubber and hoses look fine. Now I would prefer to have it housed in a heated shop, don't get me wrong. And long story short, it was supposed to happen long before now, but deal went south, ended up in a huge 2 year long legal battle over the property in question.

Anyhow, I agree with opinion that having it sit outside at the dealers for 3 years should come with a discount. But, I've been to Fairbanks. All I can say is the market is severely limited and one sided there on the side of the dealers. Just no competition, so dealers know they don't have to "deal". And yes, *everything* is more expensive up there, except fresh fish and crab.

And it takes longer than 10 minutes to fully warm up my tractor at -40F with a block heater, oil pan heater, and hydro sump heater all working together. I am using synthetic engine oil btw.
