What's your LEAST favorite fall task?

I think my least favorite task is on the mornings I dont have to work, yet still get up well before the crack of dawn, cold and miserable with frost on the ground, only to suit up and trek out into the woods, barley being able to see for lack of light, and then climb up 18 feet in the air, and sit there for 2-3 hours watching the woods come to life, scanning back in forth across the horizon, hearing all the nature sounds, all the while never seeing even a glimpse of those ever-elusive white-tails:mur: and then climb back down, go back to the house disappointed, eat some breakfast and enjoy a coffee, all the while just waiting on evening to roll around to do it all over again:confused2:

That has GOT to the least favorite thing.

Which part? The hunt itself or being unsuccessful getting a deer? Oh now I get it...Nobody is making you go hunting, so it's obviously the lack of getting a deer that you detest

Which part....It all sucks when you dont have any luck.

But when you finally do....it makes it all worth it:thumbsup:

The leaves are too thick to attempt to mulch here. They end up killing the grass. Small hand held blowers will only do so much before they cannot move the piles any further. So I would blow the leaves into windrows perpendicular to our woods, then use the snowblade on my PowerTrac to push the windrows into the woods. That works pretty darn good. Then I got a tow behind brush type lawn sweeper. That works really well. It fills up fast, though. But I can empty it from my seat by pulling a rope, so I never have to get off the tractor. It is much faster than the hand held leaf blower was. If I had some extra cash to spend I would get a power leaf vacuum that mulches so I would not have to empty as often. But all in all, leaf removal only takes three or four afternoons and it is a good excuse to get outdoors.

Why pick them up....mulch them with a mower. If only I could do that with walnuts without killing the grass by cutting it too short.

How I wish that were an option! I have soooo many oak trees with soooo many leaves trying to mulch the leaves creates a real mess. I tried mulching then mowing with a bagger and that took longer than raking/blowing.

Plus, and this is even a bigger headache --- getting leaves out of flower beds, bushes and planters. Bottomline --- I need to blow to a pile, pick-up, dump in the woods, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat - well, you get the idea.

We don't rake leaves here in the country the wind takes care of them sooner or later. However I do have to get on a ladder once they are all down to clean the gutters. You would think that as much as I hate that job I would run out and buy gutter guard. hmmmm

I have tried several types of gutter guards problem is if your gutters are on a steeply sloped roof much of the rainwater simply runs over them and splashes on the ground.

Fall is my second favorite time of year after spring--love the spring and fall fishing!! The hardest physical job I have to do is installing the front-mount snowblower and those heavy darn chains on the Kubota, but once I get those done I'm ready for winter (my least favorite). Regards, Mike

That happens in heavy downpours anyway.

I hate trying to stuff everything in the barn! Tables, chairs, trilers and everything that sits out all summer that "needs" to be inside in the winter.
Hate is a strong word but I am with you on putting away mommas stuff lol ;)
