Doesn't Kubota say they don't recommend spacers on the BX.

I'd be surprised if they didn't void the warranty due to the added stresses.

Yesterday I was at our Kubota dealer looking at buying a BX25D and asked about spacers. The dealer mentioned that Kubota has a 3" spacer he can put on it but they are expensive (think he said about $300) and he felt it was a lot for the little it added. By his account it sounds like Kubota has something out there??? I am VERY interested in adding a rear spacer as I really need stability on hilly land.

Plus don't forget they will add additional clearance for tire chains.

^^ THIS ^^ is the main reason that i installed rear spacers on the BX. i'm not sure how much of an increase in stability i really noticed but the increase in chain installation/removal ease is very noticeable. (mine are only 1.25", due to the 54" MMM)

I don't know about tractors, but on my race car they are SOME that are ok to use....if they are TUV approved then you are ok. If they can be made to be fine on a race car buzzing along at 120+ and inches away from a wall then I would think that someone could make some that would be ok on a tractor. I don't understand how more stress could be put on the axle by weight....as the weight is still supported by the lug bolts....again I am guessing I don't know if the tractor is lug or hub centric.....but I would think that the weight is still the same weight.

I really don't have a dog in this hunt as I am lucky enough to have most of my land pretty flat. I did take a ride down to the drainage ditch and it was a little scary, so the thought of how to make this thing a little wider did enter my mind....but that would only be for cleaning out the ditch and mowing.

Added stress is created by the tires, the point of contact, being farther from the bearing. Hold a sledge hammer pointed straight out, first just behind the head, then by the end of handle. Is one just a little bit easier? Why? It's the same weight?

Rear spacers add stability, no doubt about that, they also apply more load to the bearing. Part of the expense of the Kubota spacers may well be to cover extra warranty repairs. Aftermarket spacers may void the warranty. Maybe not, check with your dealer.

Odds are, a spacer of just an inch or two won't shorten the life of the bearing much. Maybe from 20 years to 18 years, or 40 years to 35 years. Either way, that's beyond warranty. As long as one realizes this going in, I see no problem, just be aware of the possible consequences, there always is one.

As has been mentioned, some have been involved in catastrophic failure of major components.

I just got my Bro-Tek 2" rear spaces. Now I need to purchase a socket so I can get the rear wheels off! I'm making a set of chains for use on my BX25D.

Got the socket - put the spacers on...easy as pie! :)

Yes it is! I measured my tire chains from my old Craftsman tractor and I can modify them by adding about 8" to each cross link, and they "should" fit! ;)
