Where the TC45D is NOT deluxe

Thanks for all the posts. They helped me decide 2 things:

1. I was waffling between the TC45D and a Kubota L4610 and have now decided on the Kubota.

2. I purchased through my local dealer in case there is a problem.

Best Regards,
John in SC

Jinman,

I've done the same adjustment on my TC40D. I as recall, it might have required a full turn or more to get results. Just keep loosening... You will know if you've gone too far when the lever moves by itself. /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

Thanks, John. I was going to work on my tractor this weekend, but it has rained almost constantly for the past two days. When it drys up some, I'll retry the castle nut adjustment and I'll replace the cotter key with a hairpin just like you did. Great idea!/w3tcompact/icons/clever.gif

Jim or John, is there a seal or something under that castle nut ... something you could get some teflon or silicone lube onto, before putting the nut back on completely???

Duane, from what I've seen in the past on these types of pressure/friction points you want a slight bit of friction, but not so much it binds like my 3PH control arm currently does. My old Ford Jubilee even had a leather rub disk which provided enough friction that bouncing around would not cause the lever to shift positions, but it was still easily adjustable. I'm afraid if there is too much lube, the handle will not stay where you put it. Is your lever overly stiff too?

...and it has rained for the past three weekends, Chris. I'm not complaining though. By the time July and August roll around the ground will be parched and I'll probably be begging you for some rain./w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif

Yes it is. In fact, as stiff as it is, I can't see where a little lube is going to change the situation to one where there's not enough friction. I'd like to give a try anyway. .... so, what is under that nut? Is it sort of a split, tapered piece that the nut cinches down on?

Tomorrow, Wed. 4/10, I will be where my Illus. Parts Catalog is and I'll scan the details and send them to you. I think there is just a flange with a soft washer underneath. The shaft is continuous into the hydraulic lift control valve (as I remember). I'll try to clear up the "mystery" tomorrow, but I don't believe it is a "split, tapered piece" although that would have been a good idea... kinda like a large version of a pin vise./w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif
