Here we go, went to the dealer on Saturday and was given a price of $20,500 out the door for the following;
I was about to write the check when he said he was getting a CK30HST w/K130 in on Tuesday. He would sell it to me for the same price I was given on the CK25HST $17,825 (new) w/tiller, brush cutter/liquid filled AG tires. The biggest issue would be the weight again!

I should just bite the bullet and get the CK20 package.

Bill
Heck Bill , buy em both and you can give me the CK30. I'll even pay to transport it :D. Seriously though, unless you intend to modify your truck & trailer set up, you're going to be well over the weight limits we've been discussing. Also, you didn't mention that any BH for the CK30 was included, so that's another expense to consider. If you buy the CK20 and do real well with the business, perhaps a stronger truck & trailer are in your future. You can then sell the CK20 + attachments and upgrade to a bigger model if you feel you need it. Cheaper way to go (although there is always risk) would be to buy used. Bet you're losing sleep over this one but don't over complicate it.

If you don't have the towing capacity don't buy the CK30, especially if the BH is not included. I know you mentioned gearing down to a 4.10 rear - that should help but I don't know the exact effect - some things I looked at suggest 1k more towing capacity while others show a 2k change. It could be the higher number since you are changing over from a 3.55 rear. Maybe Ford can help quantify it. Get some sleep, good luck & keep us posted.

That is EXACTLY the set up I bought (except I got 3 hooks on the bucket :pand got it delivered 75 miles)! I added a QA adapter, grapple, tree boom and landscape rake so far. I have loved the machine and it has been a fantastic little worker over the past 170 hrs. The only thing I really would like off the CK25/30 platform is the 3 speed hydro. The high range is really just good for travel on flat areas.

What, no cab? ;)

Unless you need a 12" trench, you might want to upgrade to the 16" backhoe bucket. That is what I have and it has no problem digging through any type of soil.

Also the FEL hooks are an absolute neccessity, I use them more often than anything else on the tractor.

I wish...but even the DK45S cab is small and harder to get in and out of than my open station. And, there is no chance of A/C which is the real reason I'd like it for mowing in July/Aug.

I actually like the 12" bucket and find digging goes pretty quickly. As I have mostly been stumping, I think a larger bucket would make it more difficult. There have been a number of times I wished I'd had a 9" bucket or even just a talon on the end to rip up side roots like a subsoiler.

True but only if you don't have a grapple (yet). FEL hooks are almost completely redundant once the grapple goes on. No more popping off the tractor, dragging the chain out of its storage spot, pondering the best way to wrap the bizarrely shaped object then moving to the other side of the object to attach the other side of the chain to the bucket, then back on the tractor, then off the tractor, unchain, store chain etc. :( Nah, hooks are a bore. Just open the grapple, capture, squeeze and go! Reminds me of the old Dire Straits song MTV..."maybe get a blister on your thumb....that ain't working...that's the way to do it".

In any case, Xtremesvc, if you are doing any land clearing, spring for the grapple NOW, not after you've killed yourself for a year without it (like someone I know well). Then you can use the chains and hooks to carry a keg of beer you'll be able to enjoy with all the time you've saved.:) :) ;)

Went and drove the CK20 and CK30 around playing in the dirt yestarday and wrote a check for the CK20HST w/fel (48' bucket), bh (12" bucket), 55" tiller, 4' brush, filled tires(rimguard), hooks on bucket and tooth bar for $20500 out the door! He upgraded the tiller from the 47" to the 55" due to not having one in stock for the same price, a $160 savings and I got him to throw in the 50 hour service also, another $200 savings. He will also deliver it on Wednesday for free! The dealer says that Kioti has upped the horses on the new CK20s and he also advances the timing to get around 23 horses. Can not wait to get it!

Will post pics.

Thanks to everyone!

I'd love to get more information on this issue. What are the downsides of advancing the timing and is that a simple adjustment?

By the way, contgratulations on your purchase. Sounds like a good deal with all the extras.

Congrats on the CK20 purchase and Welcome to the Pack!

I would be careful about advancing the timing, sure it will be good in ideal weather and I am sure you can get a little more power, but what happens in the winter when the air is cold and dense and the fuel is less than optimal?

For 2 more engine hp, I highly doubt it's worth it. I have yet to find a way to stall out the engine before losing traction or hitting a relief valve.

I have managed to do that a few times, mostly going up hill with the loader or grapple a bit overloaded in a ground engaging operation.

I'd never thought of tweaking the engine before and perhaps 10% isn't much increase in HP but I'd still like to learn more about how to do it. In my case I don't use the tractor in freezing weather at all so that issue would not be a problem. Anyone know how this is done and what the potential harm is?

My dealer says he bumps the timing just a smidge (little bit). I'll find out what it is when they deliver it on Wednesday. I will be picking up a 3-point quick hitch this Saturday from Harbor Freight for $60 to use with my attachments. I did see a discussion on it and hope I have the same luck with the dimensions. I already have a task to clean out my back ditch and a job to till up a small 2 acre orchard!

:) Again, thanks for all the input from you guys! Can not wait to get it!

Hi,
I'm wondering if you or your dealer knows the cost of running an engine with the timing advanced beyond the specs. I can't see the dealer playing around with the shimming on the injector pump to get 1 or 2 more horsepower. The CK20 has always had 21 engine HP. This job is not like bumping the timing on a gasoline engine.
I for one would want to make sure my machine was set to manufacturers specs for a longer life.
Just an opinion.
