Which one?

OK......I obviously don't know my JD tractors  but it does not help when a Manufacturer uses the same model number series for riding lawn mowers and CUT's. I could not even find the 4010 listed on the Residential part of their web site.

Moto, If that 4010 is indeed an 18 HP glorified lawn mower, stay far far away. These small tractors have far too much power for the build of the chassis. You'll end up cracking the frame or such as I did with my 14 HP riding lawn mower....trying to do work a REAL tractor should be doing.

If money is an issue (& it normally is), then check out a Mahindra or a Kioti which are built much bigger & heavier but cheaper than an equivalent from the Main 3 players.

Well I thought it was a pretty good tractor(4010) because it is about the same size as a jd 2520, and has a 3 pth. I though it might actually be underpowered.

Well, my long post got cancelled. Will try again.

The 4010 is NOT a lawn tractor. It was the smallest (hp and weight) tractor at the time with full Cat I capability and good clearance underneath and has the hydraulic cooler in front of the radiator where it ought to be, not underneath.

Mine has 350 hours on it, and I've hauled many loads of gravel (about 23 tons) in the FEL. With a carryall on the back, it'll really haul lots of stuff.

Buy the 4010, snowblower and maybe a cab where you live.

The FEL would be very useful, only about $2500.

I've a FEL, brush hog, carryall, back blade, TPH-122 MacKissic, JD M soil ripper adapted to 3ph.

The 4010 is no toy, and probably real hard to break when used with the recommended attachments. It's no light weight lawn mower. From my experience the JD are built extremely tough. But, it's also not a full size CUT.

I do recognize that this is in Canadian dollars. At today's exchange rate $17000 Canadian is about $14235 U.S. A 7800 with 900 hours of contractor usage just isn't worth that to me. The implements help, but there are better deals out there on more modern tractors.

Look around for a JD 755 or 855. Nice tractors, sized about right. I'd give those other dealers a visit before deciding. The MF's pretty nice, and so are the NH boomers.

They don't have any compact MF's right now, they're all big ones with cabs and such, too expensive for what I need. Same with NH. What do you guys think of Cub Cadet? or any of the Kubotas I listed above?
Sorry for all the :confused:Q's, :eek:I really don't know much about this tractor business. it's prolly gonna be next year before I get one, I'm just doing my homework now so I can just waltz in to a dealership and say "THAT ONE" lol. and pretend that I'm some hot shot with lots of dough.:D
It's really nice to see people helping out other people with tough decesions such as these.

As per the original post and assuming you have some major snowfalls in your area The B7800 may be a good choice.

It's already equipped to handle the snow!:D
