Who's running foam filled tires?

Rolling them is interesting because they are so heavy. Putting them on is easy enough, just jack up the tractor a little on the low side, and then give the jack a half a pump until you get it the exact height that you need it to get the bolts lined up and your first lug nut on. Then it's easy!!!!

Congrats,
Eddie

Because of the normal rough condition of skid-loader tires, they cannot be recapped.

boy, ive installed alot of recapped skid steer tires on some pretty abused machines.

After too many weekends of Tractor "Work" being cancelled because of flats I had my rears filled.

I think it cost $330 for both rears on my little BX tires... I had a big sidewall gash and was looking at new tires or getting them filled.

The company did it while I went to lunch... they owner said they will re-cap for 50% the cost of new... it may be many years since I have only 200 hours total now.

I did not have the front done because I was advised against it by Kubota and the Dealer... apparently, more stress can be transmitted to the front axle in some cases without the cushion.

Oh, my back hoe capability increased a lot from the extra weight and my hillside stability too.

Is all foam the same density - i.e. stiff with no cushion effect?

Just curious from the discussion.

I was offered 3 different densities... I went with their recommendation for a SCUT...

There is a little give... the only time I notice I have foam filled in a negative way is when I road the tractor which only happened once.

Since one of my tires alreay had a gash in the sidewall, the company didn't even need to drill a vent hole in that one.

They also "Brand" each tire stating it is foam filled.

How did you find a shop that does this kind of work? or better yet, How do I find a shop that offers this service?

I have asked around and I get the "who's the guy with the third eye" look :mur: ...

I knew this existed but never actually known somebody that had this done...thanks for the help.

I live in MD (DC area)

Thanks

Raf

Had the same problem in my county...

I called a couple of Dealers in farm country asked...

Seems there is only one that really does it full time.

I drove 135 miles round trip to have my tires done... they foam fill all day and they also recap Ag tires and the foreman showed my the place while my tires were being foamed.

I had mine done in Stockton CA... even the small BX tires weighed quite a lot... I can only imagine trying to transport and mount larger sizes.

yeah... bigger tires would be too heavy. I was thinking for my smaller garden tractor and other "yard equipment" as I find myself fixing flat tires every year. I end up buying whole new wheels and tires at Harbor Frieght as it is less expensive than buying tubes (tubes cost around $9-$10 plus the labor cost (I'm pretty handy but I cannot seem to get tubes in these little tires...they basically kick my butt), on sale at Harbor Freight they go for $5 a set (new wheel/tire/bearings)). So I swapp out tires on a regular basis, not so good for my pocket book plus they stink (smell bad)--some are made in China, others in India...I guess its the rubber they use.

Just a pain...thought if I foam filled these bad boys....I would never have to buy another small tire again. Its mostly a thorn in my side of my small engine equipment and a time thing...I'll keep asking around---someone has to do it around here!!!!!

Thanks for your input.

If there's a Les Schwab in your area, check with them. They send them out, but should have the ability for having it done.

Very small tires shouldn't cost much... I was charged by the pound of foam used.

You may still need tires because eventually, the rubber tread will wear off.

In the interim... NO MORE FLATS!!! Which is why I had it done.
