That's interesting. They mentioned the two seater T-Bird... I was looking at one of those last week. It could be mine for the low, low price of $43,000.To further complicate things, Wikipedia says Ford produced one concept car in 1953 and called it Vega.
To me, my Ford Edge looks just like the Splash edition of the Ranger pickup. I see that some of the current used car ads list them as the Ford Ranger Edge. The decal on the side doesn't say Splash it says Edge. Mine is a 2001 model.
The F150 was a slightly heavier version of the F100 back then, until the smaller Ranger replaced the F100. I went from a '73 "Ranger" to an '83 Ranger the year they came out with them... and have owned 2 more since then. They really were small trucks back then, when Dodge came out with the Dakota it was the first truly midsized truck. They are a Ford Ranger. Edge is just a trim of the Ranger. Was basically a 2wd truck that had the stance of the 4wd among other things. I have the sales literature somewhere for them. The XL, XLT, FX4 are other examples of other Ranger rims.
"Ranger" used to be a trim level of the F150 before the Ranger pickup came out.
They also made the Brat for a few years in the 80s. Even more useless since it had seats in the bed.Reminded me of the Subaru Baja. That model lasted 4 years for a reason.
That was to get around the tariff on imported pickups. Even without the seats they would have been darn near useless, but good for somebody who just wanted it for going to the dump, or for taking the lawn mower up to camp for the weekend. They also made the Brat for a few years in the 80s. Even more useless since it had seats in the bed.
Had forgotten all about that.It was comparable to the little VW Rabbit with a pickup bed.
The 67 and up Camaros and 68 up Chevy IIs/Novas were X bodies also.A little of topic but car makers give letter designation to the models. Like the original Challenger and Cuda were E bodies. For some reason that came out when Chevy came out with new front drive Citations. They were X bodies. I liked asking people why they were called X bodies. The usual answer was the frame was in the shape of an X.
