Why does Ford keep confusing me?

My brother really likes that updated “McGyver”, I’m not sure why.. I always thought the original one was a stretch.

To the OP; the worst travesty was the ‘78 to ‘83 Challenger. It was a disgrace to the name Mopar, never mind the original Challenger namesake.

I keep wondering when they’re going to bring back the Pinto and the Vega. :D
I enjoyed the Pinto. Cheap, economical and fun to drive. They could have easily fixed the gas tank problem like they allowed Jeep to do. They added a receiver hitch as a recall and problem fixed!

The running gear was tough as nails! A couple of my HS friends had Pintos and beat the snot out of them. That was the beginning of our love affair with Japanese autos though, for some it was just an excuse to bash US iron.

Car names are "brands" and the accountants give them a value then once it has a value there must be a return on that value
my guess there is Brand recognition associated with the name that they want to capture

Hopefully never. I hope that Ford is still embarrassed by those vehicles.

Then there was the Mustang II, basically a (somewhat) sporty-looking Pinto. Collectable today, but not a worthy successor to the original.

Agree that the original McGyver was kind of corny, but at least you could count on him making something useful out of an odd assortment of items (all of which were conveniently on hand). The reboot kind of got off track quickly.

Well there never was a love affair with Japanese autos for this boy. 🙄
My first wife (RIP) had a '75 Pinto, wasn't a bad car. Felt a lot more solid than any of the Japanese cars of the day, and didn't rust out anywhere near as quickly. I agree the gas tank issue was overblown. As I recall most other econoboxes of the era had the same problem, and IIRC it came out in court during the famous trial that the driver had left the gas cap off.
Sure would hate to have been in a front end collision in an old VW with the gas tank in the front.

Never knew Ford ever built a pickup called the Edge.

Ford ran out of letters a long time ago and started again at the top of the alphabet using Model A again in 1927.

Deere 110 is confusing… lawn mower or small commercial TLB?

New name is supposed to be 'new and improved' when in fact it's same old stuff and new and improved denotes a higher price too.

Is there any pattern to JD model #s? My first tractor was a JD750, there was a 650 that was the same thing with a smaller engine, but I've never noticed any other pattern on their products.
