Oil & Fuel Why not use a funnel with a screen to fill fuel?

That U.S.Navy safety website (with the weekly photos of incredibly stupid stunts people do) described an incident where a guy caused an explosion at a filling station by filling his gas can without removing it from the vehicle. Since it wasn't grounded, static electricity set it off. Wonder why the stations don't post that warning since its tempting not to unload and reload the back of a truck if you can reach the cans with the hose.

Every station I buy at does have it posted along with the one not to get back in your vehicle and not to use cell phones. Nobody reads them.

</font><font color="blue" class="small">( i don't know the reason for that , but i will just tell you that i have been fueling lots of equiptment, lawn mowers, GT's, farm tractors, etc, have never used a screen in the funnel, and have never had a fuel prolem caused by dirt or sediment in the fuel.
In MHO if you have that much stuff in your fuel cans that you need a screen to catch it , you need to change where you get your fuel and get new containers )</font>

*It's water condensation not dirty fuel is why you need to filter the fuel before you pour it in the tractor.
Both dirty and clean fuel can and does probably have water in it.
