I think those comments describe at least half the people I work with in an elitist leftwing institution. Nice to know there are some on the right to balance life out.
Thanks for the post..
Anyway, I'm far from an elitist, but I do enthusiastically support our 2nd Amendment rights....no dispute on that. In fact, I lean toward that "pry it from my cold dead fingers" attitude, no dispute on that either.
And you and I, IslandTractor, have had this rather boisterous discussion over the years in several other threads.
As far as two_bit_score...no idea where he's coming from...seems to have some weird antipathy toward me...don't know why...and, I can't say I much care. So, I'll just ignore his comments...
Getting back to the topic at hand...
You wrote "As I recall states with CCL have quite a number of deadly road rage incidents"...I doubt you have any verifiable statistics to support that statement...do you? And, I definitely doubt that holders or carry permits have any higher rate of road rage then any other group (although I have no verifiable statistics on hand to support that statement).
I agree with you that firearms are primarily a tool...but, just as some guys love their Harleys, Corvettes....tractors...tools all, some of us love our guns. And what's wrong with that?
As far as
There can be and should be some regulation of guns and gun owners. the reasonable debate is how to regulate them to maximize benefit to those who need them while minimizing the potential for harm to innocents and stupid people.
There already are numerous laws and regulations on the ownership and use of firearms...many more then necessary and many are unreasonable. And, as has been discussed many many many times...laws only apply if people are willing to obey them.
It looks like the biggest problem with "illegal" guns results from the mismanagement and extremely poor judgment (
and, the way I see it, criminal actions) of those who are responsible for the enforcement of the laws and regulations...I'm writing of the "Fast and Furious" debacle, of course.
And, as far as "need"...it's a Bill of Rights...not a Bill of Needs.
IslandTractor, you'll never win this debate...I doubt it would even come to a draw, not even close.
BTW, I reckon we're getting way too close to "political"...shall we stick to the original thread topic for a while?
