Why pay more??

   / Why pay more?? #21
Still rather confused as to the entire point of this thread. People buy what you might consider to be an over priced to feature ratio tractor for many reasons.

-Location and function of the brakes, HST pedals, and other levers
-Seat position, comfort, ergonomics of all sorts
-Past experience with the brand, comfortability with a brand and its functions.
-Excellent and supportive local dealership network
-Got a deal offered to them on a specific tractor in stock by local dealer
-Killer feature that made that particular purchase worthwhile in their estimation.

Other reasons might be:
-Wife only approved of certain color
-Only certain color matched paint scheme of inside of garage
-Other colors make them nauseated.
-They are color blind and can't see any difference in any of them.
-They were forced to purchase that color tractor because their son was being held hostage by terrorists and were being blackmailed.

Gosh, come to think of it, I have no idea whatsoever why people buy a tractor that another thinks is a foolish, over priced, under featured, poorly equipped machine. I know one thing. Sooner of later manufacturers/sellers who make/sell junk won't be around and then, we won't have to worry about it any more.

well i actually meant why someone would buy one of the blue, orange, green, or red ones that dont come with standard features like other tractors have over one of the other known colors. Just doesnt make sense to spend the same or more money on something that doenst come with standrd features like other brands.

Maybe they changed things in the last 3 years but when I was looking for a 50hp utility tractor they all came with the ROPS, and drawbar. The Kubota came with telescopic 3PT arms and the JD and NH didn't.

i have a 50 hp an a 20 hp kubota: before i bought either, i looked at every make an model within about 100 miles: the ones that are name brand, an generally have brand loyal customers, were higher priced, the ones that i thought would save me some money, were so close to the same price, i started looking at asking prices of used tractors an it sure appeared to me, that the kubota held its value 10-15 years, much better than the ones that would have saved me 1 or 2k bucks: i am shopping for another small tractor to use mostly for mowing: an am finding exactly the same thing again.

No i dont, i know people who do and also just wonder why you wouldnt want to spend less, about the same or maybe even just a little more and get more features instead of having to pay more in the future for normal stuff like a drawbar a tractor should come with,

Beyond a drawbar, what features are you talking about, specifically? If you can provide some specific examples (models and features) it might be a little easier to understand what you are referring to. Without specifics, the opening question is so vague as to be unanswerable.

The last new tractor I bought was a JD 4120, 4 years ago. Back then, it was tied with NH in cost (TD?40), and, about $1k less than Kubota (GL4330). In almost all measurable performance categories, it outspec'd the NH by a considerable margin (I could have got the NH $400 cheaper but without a quick-attach bucket that was standard on the JD). Had the NH or Kubota offered better specs at a lower price, I may have bought one. I have JD and Kubota dealers within 5 mi, but about 20 to an NH, so NH would have needed to be about $1k cheaper for me to seriously consider just for that reason. I really dont think there are many folks out there who are really "color blind". Most, like I did, will compare specs, features, cost, and other things like distance to a reputable dealer.

cause the brakes are on the right, the clutch on the left. :)

Does any tractor come less a draw bar?

Hmmmmmm.... not to my knowledge, tractor without draw bar:confused:..... Come on, Seems like a stretch to me. I NEVER have seen a new tractor minus one. If any tractor brand was as perfect as a tractor could be, TBN would have a PERFECT BRAND TRACTOR owning/operating and buying/pricing discussion forum anyhow:D. It would be BLUE, orange, green, red, white, darker green, light green, gray, darker red, swirled in color. Price range one dollar per HP, sizes from 1HP to 1 million HP and draw bar standard.
