Windows 7 question

   / Windows 7 question #11
I am getting the message after the user ID and password when I click the arrow to continue the log in. Same thing happens if I press "enter" key instead of clicking the arrow.

If the userid she gave you is in the format of xxxxxx\userid, where xxxxxx would be the university domain name, try just entering the userid without the xxxxxx\

If it is not, then as someone else mentioned, her local userid credentials have expired and the only way to fix that is to connect to the university network first.

The odds of you guessing another local userid is zero.

Excellent advice. There are ways to find and get into local accounts, but using them could get her in trouble with the school IT department (they would get you in trouble any place I have worked anyway) so I wont go further.

Same here, except we use extension number instead of user name.... as well as renaming and keeping the local admin account active. I miss the drop-down box on XP that would tell you the computer name....

And of course, to log into the local admin account you'd need its password, in all likelihood something known only to the corporate IT staff.
