Love how this chipper folds up, takes up less room than my Lawn Mower!

I purchased a chainsaw holder from Woodland Mills but wanted another one for my little Dewalt battery saw so I made one with some scrap 3/4" plywood and two 1" lag screws.

Looks good to me having your saws handy in the bush. Nice dolly too.

Cheers,
Mike

Thanks for the advice Ralph, I guess maybe I should put 4 gallons of hydro fluid in it and check the levels.
With 4 gallons only, you will not be able to see the oil. It'll be just below that cylindrical inlet thing.

Can you use a QH with this bigger unit? On the WC46, the Cat. 1 pins just stick out and aren't enclosed like on this bigger unit. Actually, how do you get the lift arms one with the pins enclosed like that?

Mine called for 5 gallons and I put about 5.5 gallons in it. It is at a good level now. I don't think I'll have any spillage unless I'm on a severe side hill. (It's pretty flat around here)

Yes, I use a Quick-Hitch with my WC68, everything lined up perfectly.

I got my WC68 around Thanksgiving 2020 and used it 3 times before I had pull off that project to complete the goat birthing stall. Then the snowpocalypse hit. I hope to get back to it this weekend. I have a giant pile of mostly cedar trees and the chips the WC68 makes are great for mulch and bridal path cover. The machine has performed well and is only limited by the HP of my 25HP Branson 2515. It will handle up to 4" logs. I continue to hone my use and have I pile of chips that's about 2 C.Y. I spend about as much time pulling the material out of the pile and prepping for feeding as I do actually chipping. The last time I started a burn pile at the same time and anything I didn't think would chip I just threw on the fire. My main goal is to process the cedar but I did put some oak through it too. The assembly of the machine was pretty easy and I'm happy with the quality. When I stored it I put it back on the pallet rack, strapped it on with ratchet straps and used my forks to put it up on a 3' high shelf in my equipment shed.
As a side note, after spending three days working on the giant pile I had started to make a dent in it. Then the ices storm came and after cleaning up from that I'm back to square one. Just happy I have the tractor, grapple and chipper to deal with it.

I have a tractor with a a PTO rated at 23HP, is it worth getting the WC68 instead of the WC46? Can a PTO of 23HP handle 6" diameter logs? I will chip mostly pine, birch, spruce and fir trees with it.

As far as hp goes, you'd do fine with the WC68. The 2025R kind of loafs along on the WC46 at only about 2600-2700 rpm vs. 3000 for "540". Just don't need the hp.

Thing I notice the most is that weight out the back. This is on the WC46. The WC68 is 710# vs. 510# for the WC46. You'd have to be extremely careful on slopes, which is where I operate the WC46 on a lot.

Think you'd need a Kubota L or 3 series JD with their bigger weight to handle the WC68 if you go at all on slopes.

Ralph
