eBay/Craigslist wow- ****** out there

I've had poor experience selling stuff on CL. I tried to sell a solar pool cover, for probably 10% of what it cost new, I was asking something like $20.

I've had mixed experience selling low-dollar items on CL. It seems like people usually don't want to drive out and go to the hassle for something cheap. But they are definitely willing to come out for something free! I've been amazed at what kind of junk people are THRILLED to come take off my hands.

The solar pool cover, I put an ad on CL under the free section. It was gone in a day, and I had people calling about it weeks later. I finally removed the ad, even though it had dropped several pages down. I just hated the idea of throwing out a usefull item.

I do the same thing. I hate to throw stuff out and I figure, who knows? One man's junk is another man's gold. But yeah, you gotta take the ads down once it sells or you'll continue to get hounded no matter how old the ad is, especially on free stuff. Still, people should know free stuff goes fast. If the ad is more than a day old, I usually don't bother.
