wr long or ??? for brush & logs?

This summer I chose to fit a grapple on the minidigger to keep the tractor free for other tasks.

Nice work. You fab that yourself?

Well the bottom line is they make different grapple designs, because each design works best for certain jobs.. I don't think there is a "best" grapple design for every thing, each design is best at some things, and maybe a compromise at other things..

Have both the blade and the grapple here. Like the blade. Not sure about the grapple, had a bad experience, it arrived with all the fittings finger tight so it spewed fluid all over the place.

The grapple just got here, not sure if I like it or not. A neighbor who knows way more than me said I won't like it because it won't hold one tree.

I'm stewing on how to grab stuff. Stay tuned.

Mine holds one tree.

And a different one tree.

If you need to hold one itty bitty skinny tree, to cut with a chain saw, keep one or two short fat logs handy to fill up the space in the grapple or just clamp it with the tips of the lids.

You may be able to put the tree in the grapple diagonally so one lid can clamp down on it.

Took a look at your new grapple from ETA, looks good (maybe your neighbor is a little jealous!?...) What did he mean (it won't pick up one tree?

I'm guessing he is saying that the grapples opening is to big, like the one I have (opens to 49 inches- and while it is true that many logs are not tightly gripped in the grasp of the grapple- it isn't like there going to fall out.

but then sometimes you get a piece that is so large it will barely fit in the jaw, that has been my experience.

Got a little bummed that my grapple wouldn't hold some smaller logs tight -then ended up with some that were so large I could hardly fit them in . This tells me I got the size i must have needed!!!

and I think you did to.. my 2 cents

What do you mean it won't hold one tree? The nice thing about the open bottom grapple is that you don't need to rely on the clamping force to hold the tree in, but rather the weight of the tree just sitting on bottom of the grapple.

I can say I have never had trouble holding a tree that was too small, now, too big has happened but never too small. My only issue is that I can't lift 3k lb logs but that has nothing to do with the grapple.
