Good deal! I noticed the old owner has the Thermal Start setup like I have mine. This is all you need to add fuel to it. I just put it in the tank to add fuel to it then Turn the key backwards and give it a small squeeze and you should see it get hot and Blk. Smoke if you remove the Air Cleaner cover. Your need it IMO. in TN. Then since I rarely have to use mine I can squirt it back in the tank or disregard it.... Or call Hoye,Fredricks and get the Thermal setup. I Rarely ever use mine so no need for it. It also looks as if a dirt dobber may have yours clogged up.

California,

Thanks for the info on running without a battery. When the old battery that was on mine when I bought it dies, I may just use a jump pack to get it going and save the money on a new battery. I'm pretty sure I could do the same thing with my little diesel lawn mower.

I was out at mine the other day and checked out a few things getting ready for spring. I checked my battery and I'm going to have to get with Steve@Spalding and ask were he bought my Battery. It's a **** good one!!! In a couple of days I've owned it 9yrs.. When I checked it after sitting since Oct. it still was showing 12.45v. :D

The battery in mine lasted 7 years but It would die if left too long the last 2 without a trickle charger.

I just bought the new live of "value power" battery from Walmart. ITs just a 1 yr free replacement battery but at like $48.88 I had to try it as I have always had good luck with walmart, like 7 + years on batteries

l'm sure I will go to Walmart also and try using a higher CCR. I believe and was surprised the one that's in mine is only 650. Never seen the Manufacturer in Ga. And I bet I'm going to have to go to the other side of Atl. Or Al..:) I lost 2 in 16yrs. In my truck. But I replaced them with a premium brand battery.

I assume thermal start is for cold weather. Correct? I won't be using it much in cold weather so doubt I'll need it.

Exactly, warming the intake manifold helps it start like a nice warm day.

A hair dryer warming the intake side of the head for a few minutes, or blowing into the air filter intake, can do the same thing.

My tractor came with a ......dang I cant remember the name, it was one of those small knock of names you have never heard of. I looked them up online and it was a distributer and maybe manufacturer somewhere in ATL?

My 1500 came with a Vietnamese battery in it that could barely crank it over. Dumped it for an Optima and it's been years of trouble free cranking even without the compression release.

you Probably remember I have a VN tractor as well. They must not ship them here with batteries because mine had a battery from the US when I got mine?

Do you have a bulldog loader or V2/3 loader? The refurb company that my tractor was done by used the Bulldog loaders. As that's what was on it when I bought it, I had them pull it off when I bought it since I didn't want the loader. Now I wish I would of just paid that extra and got the loader but I really didn't need it and didn't want to spend that extra cash
