I have owned and operated hydrostatic tractors and equipment. This new Yanmar SA325 will roll on the slightest slope. If i take my foot off the pedal, I have to quickly hit the brake. I don’t think this should be happening unless it’s a Yanmar thing. Any SA owners comment please.

It's a tractor thing. Our Massey hydro will do the same thing. I recommend set the brake or drop an implement or loader bucket.

I hear what you’re saying but, neither my Kubota BX or the L3902 does it. I was working some dirt on a slope and lifted my foot looking back at my work when it started rolling. I have to constantly push the fwd pedal to keep it from rolling. It’s a little unsettling. That’s why I was asking if other SA325/425 folks operated the same manner.

My 2017 sa325 only rolled if it was above a gentle slope.

My 424 will roll a little on a gentle slope. It is kind of jerky when it rolls, as the fluid must be working its way through the hydro. Usually having the loader down is enough to stop it, unless the hill is pretty steep then I set the brake.
I worked on stump grinding today with my Baumalight 1p24. It was on a slight slope. I had to have the front pointed up hill so the chips wouldn’t hit a building. I had to be very conscious about roll back. I would feather the fwd pedal to keep from losing my progress and the back of the cutting wheel from contacting the stump. Dealer said he didn’t “think” it should roll on a slight grade. He’s going to investigate.

If you can push it on flat ground that is very strange. Is that with the tractor running or shut off? I guess I can't remember exactly how mine rolls with it running, I was thinking when the tractor is shut off it will creep if it's on a hill. I should be at my campground this weekend where the tractor is, and I can see what it does when it's running, but I think it creeps about the same running or shut off. It is definitely not freewheeling.

With your foot off the HST, the internal HST pump wobble plate should return to the neutral position. In that position the tractor shouldn't try to creep forward or reverse, but it will roll freely on a slope.
I agree that it would be nice if they didn't move at all unless the operator moves the HST control - but I don't know of any tractor that works like that.
