…. Not sure what would be worse, the overnight hotel bill or the charge costs.

Oh that would be the hotel…..unless it was a real sleazer. 12-15ish $ cost to charge

I could charge for free. I just need a long enough extension cord.

Evident one size does not fit all so unless compelled... to each their own.

I do think we can agree there is a difference if you are paying 10 cents a kWh or 41 cents.

Also think if you live somewhere where wood heat is illegal and new natural gas/propane installs prohibited the numbers change and more so if the cost to bring in power is tens of thousands...

EV still enjoy many perks... some early Tesla receive free lifetime charging... quite a perk... not to mention the possibility of preferred parking, free charging, carpool lane, reduce maintenance, freedom from smog checks, etc.

My 6kW array was a freebie and not a burden and the intangible is satisfaction in ownership.

So far the only work required after start up is twice a year I adjust the tilt of the panels with no tools required and maybe once over the summer rinse the panels when it has not rained in months.. neither necessary but both optimize efficiency.

My take away is there are MANY things we do on TBN that don't pencil out if we were to pay someone to do for us... such as buying a tractor but we do it because of the intangible of satisfaction and even the possible appreciation as icing on the cake...

one thing that you have to be careful of with Tesla...is them changing what you're going to get after your plunk your deposit down and before you get the car. I would think such things would be illegal, and prolly are, but its seems to be fairly common with Tesla.

Got any substantiated examples?

And turn off your AC too. Have a sweaty sleep.
I have no ac and sleep just fine. Either u don’t have a ceiling fan or u drink too much beer. Sheesh, How hot can it get in Beloit anyway? LOL

No on EV as the power grid will never support a 100% conversion without MASSIVE increase in fossil fuel usage at the power plants which will eventually wind up costing more to operate (higher electric bills a la California) than individual FF usage in ICE. (Unless we up the number of Nukes in operation, but the greenies are anti nuke & the chances of an intentional 3 mile island/Chernobyl by bad actors is high) Now a dual fuel (diesel+LNG/CNG) set up I'd be all over once the tech gets economic & fueling is easily available.

They're getting sold and bought, regardless of what we think here. After work I was out in the parking lot talking to a couple buddies that had bought similar slightly used Toyota pickups.

I hear an odd sound coming closer, almost like a small ventilation fan in a vehicle, i turn toward it and here comes another co-worker driving an EV Volkswagen. So of course we stop her and our discussion turns to her new car. How do you like it, where do you charge it, how far can you go on a charge, etc.

She loves it!! No more going to gas stations, she just drives home and plugs it in, next day hops in and goes to work. She doesn't even bother with the charging stations at work. The fit and finish of the car was very good, but it was new so not a big surprise there.

When we were looking for a new replacement car for the wife, we looked at all the available small hatch backs. She loved her 1999 Honda Civic. But it had 300,000 on it and was burning a little oil, and then an idiot dumpster driver tore out the rear hatch, which totaled the car according to the insurance company.

We looked and looked for something "Like" this old car. I hate with a passion going to dealers to look at cars. But she wanted a new one. Everything was this new school, buy in to a subscriber ship for the features of the car. Till we found the 2017 Hyundai Accent, a discontinued model but $14,000 for a new car. Every thing else offered, just seemed expensive and obscenely over complicated for no reason. She gets 36 MPG on the hiway, as does my '93 Ford Festiva. The gas crisis is no crisis for us.
