I'd say buy a lottery ticket Gale, but you've already used up quite a bit of luck with that save
Nice feeling for sure, having that coming back to life with that mess in the forecast. Heavy ice will end up taking lines down, but 15" of snow is a bit of work, esp. if your area doesn't deal with much normally.
Stay safe, and esp. on the roads.....
Rgds, D.
Yes I got very lucky. I can't complain about that 30 year old 18HP B&S engine that's had little attention.
Thankful the ice is staying south of us . We will see how much snow we get Wednesday and Thursday on top of our 2 inches.
knowing the generator is ready to fire up on a moment's notice is a good feeling.
Thanks to the ice the 22kw got a 26 hour workout.
Everything worked properly during the outage, but did end up with one equipment casualty, a 12-15 year old 1200VA tripplite UPS died after the stop/start at 24 hours to check the genny's oil (battery was still good & fully charged, the UPS just cut off & wouldn't go back on-line).
Out of curiosity, did it burn any oil? Is it a 3600rpm air cooled, like the Generac?
If the battery in your UPS is the original, it could be the source of your problem.

I know the TrippLites at work are very sensitive to dead batteries, they will not turn on with a dead battery.Out of curiosity, did it burn any oil? Is it a 3600rpm air cooled, like the Generac?

No oil use & still clear as when it came out of the bottle. It is an air cooled Honeywell, so pretty much identical to Generac (same factory?).
